I think this heavily depends on if your view of world war is Eurocentric or not and how much stock you hold in military support.

Russia and China are heavily backing Iran with technology, intelligence and weapons. So in a few weeks we’ll have the US at war with Russia and China via proxy.

The Saudis have a defence pact with Pakistan so if the Houthis fuck them up as badly as they did in the last war and Iran keeps targeting them then we might see that activated and Pakistan get dragged into it. Pakistan is already fighting on 2 fronts with India and Afghanistan, and it’s not impossible Modi decides to capitalise on that to expand the Kashmir conflict.

So we’re a few steps away from having war involving Russia, Ukraine, USA, China, Iran, Afghanistan, Israel, Lebanon, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, India and Pakistan.

Meanwhile if Hormuz stays shut and the Houthis shut Bab-al-Mandab then we’ll have the worst oil shortage in history and a global financial crash which is eventually going to pull other countries in.

Sounds quite like WW3 to me.

How are China getting that hardware to Iran? Presumably by sea?

Not sure Russia can spare the equipment any more.

Russia is the one we know has sent upgraded Shahed drones to Iran, I think Chinas support is still limited to providing them with intelligence and satellite targeting but it’s been rumoured they’re flying stuff in.

If they wanted to send bigger hardware they would send it through Russia I imagine. Or by ship, it’s not like anyone is going to attack Chinese ships.

Yes, all makes sense, certainly the China bit.

I think it’s usually a mistake to group China and Russia together, mind. As countries they are moving in entirely opposite directions.

One rarely puts a foot wrong, and for all its manifest and multifarious faults, is worthy of respect. The other is Russia.

If they are sending troops for a potential ground offensive they will be sitting ducks massing in Iraq or Kuwait. Four weeks in and they are still launching missiles and drones and the regime still exists, it’s a cluster fuck of a miscalculation by Trump and his minions. They can lie about gdp, job numbers, inflation and the US economy tanking. They can’t lie about American service people potentially going home in body bags.

I agree with all that but we shouldn’t underestimate how dangerous Russia are. They were apparently the ones who supplied all the intel for the radar plane Iran blew up on Friday and they’ve got 4 years of battle experience in Iran which could be particularly deadly in a ground invasion given how the US seems to have completely ignored it.

Whilst it’s hard to disagree with much of your post, the point made by the Turkish Twitter poster about WW3 was in the context of the use of nuclear weapons, which I still think is hyperbolic. Having said that, Trump is probably mad enough to do it. It’s like a sequel to Dr Strangelove where a complete lunatic gets elected as president.

If the yanks launch an invasion of one of the islands, they're going to be slaughtered by drones as the ruSSians will have been sharing their Ukraine experiences with the Iranians

Nothing more certain than thousands of American troops coming home in body bags if they invade . The Iranians have been planning for years . Unless someone can get Trump under control or out of power the world is fucked . There will be no future for anyone’s children or grandchildren children, we are staring into the abyss.

If Trump orders a ground invasion it will be a mass casualty event for the US military and with that he can forget any assault on Cuba because although that should be a walk in the park by comparison memories of what just happened will prevent any US citzen support for any more of his stupid nonsense
