Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

You seem to know the ins and outs of what happened within the England medical setup better than I do so I'll defer to your inside knowledge. Fact is they turned up to the camp and were then sent home - surely if they were being withdrawn they'd have done so before sending them to England.
End of the day pal, this is getting a lot of attention because it's not just the odd player. It's a full first team of players that have cried off. 61% of your players who were called up have withdrawn themselves. Everyone knows they're all gonna be fine in a weeks time, it's obvious.

Just wondering, does that 61% include Eze, Odegaard and Timber who weren't fit to begin with? It will include Madueke, Hincapie and Zubimendi who actually played some part in the first game.

Taken from this article. Take the aforementioned players out then it's still 8 out of 15 players who were due to play with their respective countries but pulled out following the humbling we gave you in the cup final.

Supporters will go to extraordinary lengths to justify whatever their club of choice has decided to do. We could argue the point until the end of time but we, as supporters, will ALWAYS back our club. We don't always back the players themselves, and we don't always back the manager, but definitely we get behind our club - well, I do anyway.
But Arsenal's reputation has been irreparably damaged by the way Arteta has done things over his time there anyway, so pulling his players out of these friendlies isn't going to make any difference to how people see either the club or the way this whole thing has been handled.

I truly believe that -whatever the outcome of this season- Arteta is on borrowed time.
Winning the Prem does not mean he will have endeared himself to the footballing world: the eye-watering amount of money he has spent, and the way he has had his team conduct themselves in order to achieve that will negate any possible goodwill from fans outside of the Gunners bubble.

I tend to agree with you bud. Only 2 managers have ever retained the prem title and that is the Govan pisscan and our own Pep. If they win the league this year the expectancy and demanding nature of their fanbase will put tremendous pressure on him to deliver more titles which he won't as next year teams will have figured out how to negate their set piece routines and dominance.

If he fucks up the title from such a dominant position I think he'll be out.

Can we take out the 2 that got injured playing in their daft friendlies, maybe add the 2 that are with England Unders?

To be honest mate, I'm not really arsed, think international friendlies are shite in general. I watched the England and Scotland games and they were feckin awful. I just find it funny most club supporters hate their players going on it as well and would rather they were not played or pulled out, but then theres an outrage when a club does it.

I'm pretty certain they have to report for international duty and it has to be the international team that approve them leaving the squad, unless it is a pre-existing injury that caused them to miss games before the international fixtures.
If a club withdraws them without being assessed by the international team that's when they get 'punished' by having to miss the next domestic game.
This is getting attention as Arsenal under Arteta have made bending and breaking the rules part of the club's identity, both on and off the pitch, and having a large number of players withdraw from international squads to work on their WWE moves, diving and playacting is just another example of desperately attempting to get any bit of advantage possible.
Basically, it's just another example of Arsenal's pattern of behaviour of running rough shod over the concept of fair play and good sportsmanship which is why it's become worthy of discussion.

Not a chance we win the league next year. Not because teams will figure us out but it'll be because there will be such a collective relief that we won't have the drive.

This ain't a vintage PL winner team. It doesn't have the secret sauce. But winning it once after 22 years will do, and if we can win it every 3/4 years thereafter with the odd cup thrown in that'll do as it's miles better than what we had before.

TLDR your 4 in a row record is safe for the foreseeable future!

So you think you have already won it this year. Unlike your players who feel the need to have a rest. Sorry get treatment on there injuries.

Don’t bamboozle him with facts, he’ll accuse you of being an England insider as well

Nope, no inside knowledge, just an understanding of probability and a dose of common sense

FIFA Regulations, annex 1

If the player so wishes, such medical examination shall take place on the territory of the association at which he is registered.

5 Restrictions on playing

A player who has been called up by his association for one of its representative teams is, unless otherwise agreed by the relevant association, not entitled to play for the club with which he is registered during the period for which he has been released or should have been released pursuant to the provisions of this annexe, plus an additional period of five days.

6 Disciplinary measures

Violations of any of the provisions set forth in this annexe shall result in the imposition of disciplinary measures to be decided by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee based on the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

Well the proof will be in how many of these supposedly injured Arsenal players are available for Arsenal at the weekend.

It'll be a hell of a coincidence if most of the dozen that pulled out of international duty are suddenly available for selection for Arsenal.

Then again, maybe you won't need some of them vs Southampton, so some of them can have another weekends rest to make it look more genuine.

But Arsenal aren't the first do get their players to do it. Old Rag players openly say Ferguson made them do it. It's nothing new. Arsenal pay the wages and are on course to win things. So I think we can all see what's going here.

Pep and red nose tbh. Please tell me you aren't saying City have never done this and keeping a straight face at the same time!

BTW I've nothing against it. Rather the players get rest at the business end of the season.

Peps never done it & actively encourages them to play. He thinks the players get a lot out of it otherwise now would be the time he’d do it.

Arteta has basically shouted we are shitting it.

You're an Arsenal fan and backing your players is fair enough. But putting Pep Guardiola in the same bracket as ferguson while doing so and in a City forum? fuck off with that nonsense.
