45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Don't mind Keane. He was what he was as a rag player but he's alright as a pundit and not as snidey about city as Neville and co.

Don't mind Scholesy either because he openly says he can't stand city winning, which I'm absolutely fine with. Respect it.

Much prefer that than the ones who pretend to be diplomatic but make snide comments.
Scholesy...

Didn’t realise how good he is at passing.
He was knocking 50 yard passes with the outside of the boot, straight into the forwards run.

Consistently our best defender , we have a pair of centre backs in Khusa and Guehi who cost £60m and they could be here for another ten years, barring injuries , with Dias & Gvardiol fit next season we have the centre of defence covered for the future.

His passing has been extremely underrated by many.

I think there is a bias when people see his physicality that he also can't pass well.

Never understood where that comes from.

Ever since he joined, his passing has been good and composed. He always plays the correct pass, which is usually the simple one.

The thing with Khusanov is that there is still so much improvement to come from him, still looks so raw in certain aspects, which isn't criticism, more excitement at just how phenomenal he can be.

That chance where he blocked Salahs effort, great block but the bit before is something he's got to work on, commits to stuff a bit too much and from unfavourable angles which leads to him being caught wrong side too much, it's an easy fix though. Him and Guehi has to be the partnership for the rest of the season.

This is the best description of Khusa I've read online from a neutral football fan.

''Khusanov this season is one of the reason for Manchester City good form currently, he’s one of the best defenders in the league and it’s not even hype, you can see it in how secure City look with him in the backline.

What stands out is his defensive aggression. He doesn’t just sit off and wait, he steps in early, wins duels, kills attacks before they even develop. In a team that plays as high as City, that kind of front-foot defending is priceless. One mistake and you’re exposed, but he reads danger quickly and reacts even quicker.

Then there’s his recovery pace massive for a Pep side. When teams try to go direct or hit transitions, he’s able to track back, match runners, and clean things up. That’s something even top defenders struggle with in the Premier League.

On the ball, he fits perfectly. Calm, composed, not forcing things. He keeps possession ticking and progresses play when needed, which is key in a system built on control. He doesn’t look rushed, and for a defender in that setup, that’s really massive

But more than anything, it’s the confidence he’s brought into the defence. You can see it in how the whole backline holds shape better, how the midfield presses higher knowing there’s security behind them. That’s when you know a defender isn’t just playing well, He’s given others confidence too.

If he keeps this level up, you’re not just talking about a good season, you’re talking about one of the standout defensive breakthroughs in the league.

Man City really hit a Gem with Him. ''

Impossible to drop this lad when Dias recovers from injury , Dias will be an important squad member , but Khusa is the future and we are better with him on the team
