Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Wonder what will happen next season when our capacity goes to 60000 and away teams are entitled to 9000 in the club, I guess they will get what they had today plus the away bit in the lower

I thought it was pretty good today too. Weird how people perceive it differently.
I’m normally in Joes East, which is almost level with edge of penalty area at the South Stand, so get mainly noise from away section. Today I was in East Stand 102, level with the penalty area at North Stand, the difference in the perceived atmosphere is vast. Could hear the Scousers of course (until we got control); but you could hear all four stands chanting. It will be great when the North Stand opens

tbf doesnt help how the stadium was built, 1st tier technically underground
That's a fair point but too many choose to watch in silence. Been in most parts of the stadium and some are simply devoid of any proper atmosphere. CB3 and E3 were absolutely awful, like a library most games i was up there. But that was a few years ago on a £299 VG SC, so couldn't choose where i was sat. I then moved to 110 which is best section for atmosphere, IMO.

I was thinking about this today, I think you could be right about that. Or maybe they give the away fans and extra block either side of what they already have in Level 2?

Probably been asked before but cannot they just get a larger allocation over three tiers. Surely it would only take a bit more internal works (walls and gates) to separate parts of the ground for cup matches?

Obviously not perfect but it has to be better than having away fans above the home fans and the security risks that causes.

Yep, which is another reason why trying to make SSL1 our atmosphere section is lunacy.

Anytime the ball went out of play yesterday I looked over at the new North Stand and just felt so disappointed in us as fans and the club for not driving it as our new home end. For the first time it didn’t have those boards there so you could see the magnificence of it as one huge tier, it’s the epitome of a proper home end and we’re missing out on creating something special because of stubbornness, lack of planning, lack of communication, lack of coöperation and lack of foresight from both the fans and the club.

Like you say, the capacity will be 61k so away fans will get 9,150 tickets for FA Cup games from next season so will get a lot of the bottom tier making them get about 90% of the South Stand. It’ll make our vocal section a compete waste of time for Cup games unless we’re hammering the other team.

We can’t rely on twatting all our opponents 4-0 and them all shutting up and leaving early. There’ll be games where it’ll be close and we’ll just be outsung the entirety of the game.

Yet we have a superb new stand staring us in the face over there that we are going to fuck up. It’s probably our last chance and we’re fucking it up… what a shame!

I've sat in CB3 since the ground opened, I agree its not the best up there! Apart from the view!

Not many clubs give away most of their home end, even for cup games. That’s on the club! But give over, once they were one down you never heard them. Leaving on 58 minutes, myth of a fan base!

I missed the first 15 minutes due to work. It was 0-0 when I got in. Both sets of fans were quiet at that point. I don't know about the first 15 minutes.

When City scored the atmosphere was great. The support from SSL1 was superb. I don't know why people are once again criticising SSL1. It seems to be an easy thing to do on here after the match. The rest of the ground was superb as well. Loved the Poznan all around the ground.

Can we just for once all agree that the atmosphere was superb after City scored the goals.

If there was a disappointment, it was the amount of fans who left before the players did their thank you lap after the final whistle.

Sc*users were loud until we scored then they downed tools immediately
That’s always the way for most fans, especially when there is close to 7000 of them. After the goals, like everyone else, I didn’t hear those 7000 Liverpool fans singing once. Good away fans are fans who keep on singing even when their team is getting beat. Another myth busted about the best self-proclaimed supporters in England, even though Liverpool isn’t a part of England, according to Liverpool fans.

I haven’t given up hope that someone at the club sees sense over this. It’s blindingly obvious what an opportunity we have.

I hadn’t thought about increased FA cup allocations but I suspect it will be the same as clubs get now, ie top two tiers. The rule is 15% but I think you can offer a bit less if you can state that it can’t be policed properly. There were maybe 500 seats roped off at the front of tier two which could be added so I’d say it’s over 8000.

For what it's worth, I'm not criticising the fans in SS1, I think they tried their best yesterday, but they were fighting a losing battle from the start, with 8,000 scousers above them in fine voice up until the first goal went in.

Yes the atmosphere got better in the 2nd half, but we're 4-0 up against Liverpool, of course the atmosphere is going to be good.

I'm not a fan of our current setup at the best of times, but for Cup games it becomes the absolute height of self sabotage.

How can our 'home end' be 2/3rds away fans!

NORTH STAND - CITY`s HOME END

Your comments are spot on.

Looking to the future, the advantages of the North Stand are clear -

* 9,500 approx.fans on one level.
* ONE entire CITY END
* 3,000 safe standing (the cheapest area in the stadium ?), at the back, under the roof.
* More safe standing can be added along the sides. These will encourage singing in the other general admission seating below and in the middle.
* visually impressive.
* acoustically effective.
* BOOM - can get the whole stadium going.
* When full of 9,500 on ONE level it will always make more noise than the lower, split, small South Stand, providing that singers start to congregate at the back and across the North Stand next season.

The disadvantages of the South Stand lower are well known. Even yesterday, at 43 minutes the lower tier was emptying in a rush for the concourse. Hundreds missed Haaland`s wonderful headed goal. Many also missed City`s third goal. Liverpool fans above made much more of a racket until the match shifted in City`s favour.

The new North Stand should become City`s main, vocal home stand that is as good or better than any home end elsewhere.

North Stand - better name, bigger, louder, and all CITY.

This is purely a suggestion, I support the North Stand idea, but the club have mucked up by adding more corporate sections in since the original plans, so they have diluted what could have been a home end

1894 has advised that they are not going to move to the new North Stand, so here is a solution for both parties

Give the 1894 the whole of the lower South Stand and move the away fans up as they do at Newcastle & Manchester Utd, either into both second and third tier or just the third tier, as yesterday proved that having SSL1 all City fans help create a better atmophere for the whole ground. The reason for that was that there was no separation from the away fans on SSL1, and the rest of the ground could hear what SSL1 was singing

Regarding the North Stand, this can be a vocal stand if people set a fan group similar to the 1894, for example, call it "The 9320"
