Right back options

We clearly need a specialist right back who can be first choice

We need midfielders who can press, and can get the ball to our strikers a lot more than a right back!

We saw what happened vs Real Madrid where RB wasn't the problem.. it was our midfield and Ruben and Donnarumma.

Those are the fine margins.. and upgrades there are needed as we clearly need to replace:

Bernardo
Kovacic
Reijnders
Stones (played a good chunk in midfield)
Nico Gonzalez (if rumors are to believed)
Rodri (if he decides to move on)
Foden (if he never recaptures his POTY form)

RB isn't as much an issue.

So name the better RB's than Nunes.....I could do with a laugh!

I’m not a scout, I watch City and when I can other games against the top teams but that’s it.

Nunes I like but if we sold him I would fully expect him to be playing CM for a team lower down the table then RB for one of Europe’s Elite.

If he wasn’t injured so much Reece James would be clear as the best RB in the prem.

From what I have seen this season Timber is better, I was quite happy when it was Ben White as opposed to Timber at Wembley.

The young Norwegian kid for Bodo seemed to have a bit about him.

But very limited my knowledge on players from foreign teams.

Timber? The young Norwegian kid from Bodo? Just how much are you underrating Nunes?
Broaden your perspective. Across the top 5 leagues, other than a fully fit Reece James, who can you honestly say is better than Matheus Nunes?

I don’t watch that much, ST at City, work, family I don’t watch too much.

Timber always seems pretty solid and the kid in Bodo (sample size of 1 game) seemed pretty technical.

It’s in no way a criticism of Nunes who I like and think has done well.

I suppose to throw it back, if he didn’t renew his contract and was available on the open market, would you expect Europes top teams to want him and to play RB. I don’t see it.

We have scouts we pay a lot of money to and probably do watch the top 5 leagues and surely it’s there job to find the 22-23 year old who with the right training and experience can become one of the best in the world when they hit there prime

Maybe that haven't found that 22/23 Yr old, because he doesn't exist.
This transfer forum is hilarious......according to it, every team in Europe has at least one player better than what City have lol

We’ll probably find out in the next window.

I would say the opposite, if Nunes played at RB for a rival I doubt we’d be saying we have best in the game.

I say this as someone who felt Pep was going to move him there and think he’s done very well.

It just seems an upgradable position, his technique and passing is not quite as good as the rest of the team (I also know Walker was very successful and he was similar).

I’d still like us to bring Livramento in, especially as Newcastle are interested in Lewis so there’s definitely a deal to be made there. However, it’s certainly not a priority anymore with the quality and consistency Nunes is showing!

As much as a lot of our fans don’t want him, Newcastle fans equally don’t want us to have him. They consider him to be very good

Yeah despite what some say I really do rate him, plus he’s only 23 so plenty of years ahead of him and development too

Wilfried Singo was the standout player in the Scotland Ivory Coast game (not that hard to be fair).

Not sure what his consistency/mentality is like, but in terms of pure ability he's definitely good enough.

But personally I'm quite on board with just using Khusanov as the backup. Centre-back must be our strongest position in terms of depth and numbers, so using them in other ways helps spread the games around and keep everyone fit, sharp and in form.

He's an all-action hero, a player who puts himself about, and then some. Yeah, I really like him, as well as Fresneda. One of those two (or maybe Roma's Wesley) at right-back and Lewis Hall and Elliott Anderson and I would consider that a title-winning haul (for next season, obviously) this summer.

Timber in the first half of the season was good, he’s tailed off since then. Besides, he’s a CB playing RB like Akanji in the treble season. You would’ve laughed if someone told you Akanji was the best RB in the world even after locking up Coman, Sane, Rodrygo and Vini Jr in consecutive games, because he simply wasn’t a RB.

I agree but it’s going to be harder to convince them players who are starting at their clubs to give that up to be a back up to a player that isn’t even a right back? Obviously money helps and a bigger club but still a tricky sell imo unless Livramento is signed and he is the main starter
This Livramento has no chance of starting over this Nunes. Have you seen the metrics on Nunes this season? Nunes is among the best RBs in Europe. Saying he isn't even a right back at this point is passe. We need a young understudy who can play in the same manner...

Nunes > Timber simple as...

His passing is mint!
