Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Unpopular opinion: had we had yesterday's starting eleven from mid-August 2025, we would've comfortably won the league title

How does everyone feel about him now?

Same as ever: I have never doubted him and dread the day he leaves our club because I do not believe anyone will come in and break records on a frequent basis in the way Pep has.

Yesterday, two records were set, the longest run of wins at home in the cup (the Previous record having stood for many decades) and an eighth consecutive FAC SF, which is just insane. I know his record in converting those to FAC Final wins should be better but shit happens; it does not change the fact that the consistency shown in the domestic cup competitions is simply unmatched.

We are obviously much closer now to the point where Pep will need to take a break / retire from football. I doubt he intends to manage another club, although he might take a national team job after a sabbatical if one of the big nations makes him a good offer; could only see him managing Spain, Brazil, Germany or England - although I’m not sure the Germans would appoint a foreign coach and I am pretty sure Argentina wouldn’t.

Missed chances early doors at Madrid and we would still be in the frame for a quadruple.
Considering the likes of Liverpool have fallen off a cliff and Arsenal aside all the others are bang average and factor in we have lost a long list of world class players and a couple of others are ageing well I’m of the mind Manchester City,in the throws of a rebuild, are still the team to beat still the top cheese, the head honchos, the top bananas and we have Pep to thank for that.

Most likely national side at the moment is Italy. He loves the country, played there, and speaks the language fluidly. God knows they could certainly use him...

I didn’t include them for two reasons:

They have never really had a non-Italian in charge;
They have a distinct lack of quality.

Pep will want a country with a realistic chance of winning the next World Cup or the one after; Italy look a long way off that.

Stood for 145 years mate :)

Who was the guy, possibly Chinese, sitting in front of Pep, who kept passing a phone to Pep to make or take instructions.
Pep patted him on the back a few times.

Anything after Pep is a downgrade.

We've been blessed the greatest coach in the world has managed our club and the success he's brought with it.

Savour the time left because we're witnessing a period we'll never see again.

Wonder if the haters still want him gone in 6 weeks time or have the changed their minds now we have won a couple of games…
He's only gone and done what plenty were saying on here he should. ie play fast attacking football with a purpose , none of the sideways and backwards shite. He's got kusanov playing and Cherki starting every game. A decent press again as well. He changed whether forced on him or not. Likely he had a look on here to see what was needed. :).

You (and others) didn’t want to give him the opportunity to re build and find the right formula. Even after everything he has achieved for the club. You have wanted a change for the last 12 months. Now we are starting to see the fruits of his rebuild you are now ‘oh he is only doing wanted I wanted him to do’

True, but imagine him being in charge of a return to form for a national side that's completely lost its way. Pep does love a challenge. His status as a legend would go even higher. I'm not saying it will happen. I'm saying it could.

All the above is true Including the last part. Some of the performances over the last 2 seasons would put you to sleep watching them. Time will tell if he has truly turned the corner.

Maybe a bit of patience and some faith in the greatest manager this league has ever seen would help. Rather than the opposite ‘everything is shit and get rid’ when things are not always going well.
