How fickle are football fans eh?
No thank you mateWell spank my ass and call me a bitch....
That's...helpful!
Beat Arsenal 4-0 and we overtake them on GD. It's in our hands even if the task is huge.Barring goal difference
We might not need to do that, we’re only 6 goals behind and have two games in hand. Any goal against them is obviously minus for them, 2-0 vs Arsenal as long as we win the other games by a goal or two should be enough. We win the next 8 games and we’re Champions, it’s as simple as that now.Beat Arsenal 4-0 and we overtake them on GD. It's in our hands even if the task is huge.
It’s because they’re so desperate not just to win it, but so they don’t bottle it against us - again. It wasn't over when City drew 1-1 at West Ham so it's obviously not over just because Arsenal have slipped up today, but this title race just shouldn't be on. Arteta's done it to himself. A City team that's still in the process of rebuilding chasing down an Arsenal team at its (ostensible) peak. They should be miles clear.
But I've never known a team & fanbase hate title races as much as this Arsenal lot. Playing these kinds of games is a privilege that 99% of teams never get, but they can't hack it emotionally. You could feel it even before KO that the Arsenal fans were nervy - not nervously excited for the occasion but destructively apprehensive.
I really do think City get helped along the way in April/May because the majority of our fans remember what happened to us between the Luton relegation in 83 and then the last Pearce season in 07. We get nervy like everyone does but we love the excitement and the privilege of playing in big games because it still feels like a dream.
As for where this season goes, I've said before that Arsenal finish on about 80-82pts, it's just about whether *this* City team can get to 83-85 and sneak above them. In terms of the mentality and fight we've got what it takes, but in terms of discipline and quality I still don't know. But it is in our hands again now, so it's up to us.
Thats an 8 goal swing and with 2 games in hand we need to win then we wouldn't need that muchBeat Arsenal 4-0 and we overtake them on GD. It's in our hands even if the task is huge.
Beat them by 2 and then chelsea and the home game with palace by 1 and 2 and we are top with 5 games to go (although not in that order). Arsenal have it in them to drop more points tooA 2 goal difference in our favour against arsenal next week will reduce that by 4.
We have the Chelsea match in between to reduce it even more
