I can't even remember which murder or tragedy they were mourning, but I associate that song with two little kids holding hands on the pitch at Goodison Park before an Everton-Liverpool derby.

However if we're going down the anthem road then it has to be something original that everyone instantly recognises regardless of age or personal musical taste.

Even better if it's a song that everyone associates with Manchester but most of the popular ones (Forest/Sheffield United/Wolves) are just daft football versions of well known songs

The Geordies have taken most of their repertoire from us, doesn’t mean we bin em off. Hey Jude served us well, and is piss easy to sing, hence it works well

To be fair to Brentford they've also been singing Hey Jude for an awfully long time.

A mate of my Dad's is a Brentford fan and he's adamant that they were singing it in the late 60s.

Yeah, fair enough, but the point is it no longer feels particularly special or rousing for us. As other posters have said, back in 2012 or 2019 it was brilliant but nowadays it feels a bit like going through the motions, even the other week at Wembley when we’d won it wasn’t that great. I’m not saying ditch it completely but for kick off we need something new.

I like this. Have blue moon or something new at kick off and then Hey Jude after a win? Maybe save it for big wins? Certain better than some of their remixes they've played recently.

At Wembley, I also liked that they played Hey Jude from the start.
