Remember..March 1981.PAUL POWER!

I think they were both pay on the gate . A team of us rocked up at Victoria on the morning of the game to get the train to Lime St . huge numbers of City there, big turn out of good lads . Trains were packed, everyone was up for it. Fun and games before and after the match . Huge away following. Great draw at their place and on the Wednesday , Maine Road was overflowing under the lights . Great win. For those of us of a certain age , and young and didn't give a fuck at the time, those two games v Everton in a matter of days wont be forgotten. Happy days.
Welcome aboard the Paul Power Everton 81 away Wonderland bus. ; )

I think you're right mate night game did kidd score as well from memory went on fingland supporters coach shady as fuck as a 15 year old school boy we went in the paddock near the city end always remember it kicking off trying to get to the ground and a city fan with a crutches riding the storm
Yes we went on the coach too I was 14 one of the first away games without adults with us.

I think it’s difficult for people who weren’t around in those days to comprehend how big the fa cup actually was as well.
Yes, the FA Cup was then a huge competition, as not many teams qualified for Europe.
The League Cup was seen as a minor trophy, perhaps because all the ties were midweek ?
In the FA Cup clubs received a big away allocation, usually played(apart from replays) on a Saturday at 3pm.
The 3rd Round Draw on a Monday, was a huge event as well...
