Chelsea (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I was so happy for Khusanov today because he played with such maturity and showed absolutely no nerves, after looking a bit nervous in the first 10 minutes of his debut (?) against Chelsea – which was entirely understandable – but he was brilliant after that, and was torn apart by the media; they were waiting for that again today to bring the issue up once more, but it was an incredibly convincing performance, as it was of course from everyone, especially in the second half, our fans were also absolutely brilliant. Enjoy your beers to all blues.

He’s a top Blue and follows City everywhere with his lad, and always has done, doesn’t take life too serious and always willing to help others.

?? What. He a season ticket holder and his lad is called Yaya I think.
Met him away at Brighton on the bus !

Seriously? Nah hes obviously ok
Chill out ya fuckin idiot! Swamps that way> lol!

Don’t care where the swap is, we’re not pantomime fans and that was embarrassing to see. If you all know him, fair enough but I thought he looked a complete clown and I don’t need to know him

Wet wipe alert

They have already collapsed, which is going unreported.

City League Cup - Lost
Southampton FA cup - Lost
Sporting CL - stoppage time goal win
Bournemouth PL - Lost

And another thing that didn't happen,

City Arse - convincing win
City Dips - convincing win
City Chelsea - convincing win
Absolutely spot on.

I'm staggered at the fact that most people cannot see this title race for what it is. A team that's desperately hanging on despite being 9 points clear and with only 6 matches to go. If you're that nervous and panicky despite having such a massive advantage and so little room for error for the chasing team, yet the best you can manage out of those fixtures is a scrappy CL win against a bang average Lisbon side, not only are you not going to win anything, you don't deserve to.

City on the other hand, absolutely on fire and desperately unlucky not to take all three points in both the West Ham and Forest games, before Taking Arsenal apart in the League Cup final, Liverpool even more so in the FA Cup then making light work of Chelsea today.

Yet despite this our own fanbase is still full of fans who cannot see how far ahead, in terms of how we're playing and our confidence levels, we are compared to Arsenal.

These are just a few gems from TODAY's match thread:

"We’re crumbling under pressure here"
"Pressure is causing us to play like this"
"Seriously, this is shit. Arsenal are bottling it but we are not champion worthy"
"This is wank now"
"Nerves not just getting to Arsenal, us too."
"Rubbish so far"
"Certain players are sloppy because of nerves and some not been in this situation of a must win"
"Just let them score first it’s gonna happen anyway….
"Run ragged here by not playing out properly. Players look tense."
"Swear to fuck we are the most nervous team in the league"

Yet we were never in any real trouble. Sure, it was obvious we needed to step up a gear but if you've watched more than a handful of City's matches this season you SHOULD know what we're capable of, yet these clowns can't even get their head around the fact that a match isn't decided in the first 15 minutes.

We've shown ZERO nerves or pressure over the past few matches, blown Arsenal, Liverpool and now Chelsea away without conceding a goal and yet OUR fans are bottling it. Not the team, the fans. It's hilarious to see. The only thing that makes it funny though is the fact that while we're revelling in the challenge, Arsenal and their fans really are bottling it.

This wasn't even a must-win today (according to many of our fans it was probably the 10th time they have proclaimed a match to be a "must win"), but had we lost we wouldn't have been any worse off. ONE match is key and that's next week. Arsenal have enough in the bank - probably - to be able to afford a draw. Win it and they likely win the title, but lose and it's ours. I can even see them losing a couple more, but if we're still 6 or more points behind this time next week it's probably going to see them through.

Yet we have one trophy in the bank, another cup semi-final, a chance of the title, all from a team still in transition yet the lack of belief on this forum is staggering. Heaven knows what the Arsenal forums must be like if ours are still this bad.

We've got this, JUST FUCKING BELIEVE and give our lads the backing they deserve instead of slating them for a slow 15 minute spell like it's something you've never seen before.

So wanted the Khusarocket to have gone in.
Incredible player. I keep saying this but we've not seen the best of him by far. He's likely under instructions not to venture too far forward but he had a surge forward in the Madrid match that nearly resulted in a goal and there was some power in that shot today. I don't think we've got another player who can hit a ball that hard. He's got a great long ball in him too. Amazing pace, strong, reads the game well and nothing fazes him. Could make the transition to midfield and become a Ballon D'Or candidate in a few years, I genuinely believe that.

None of us knew what he had between the ears last sesason. That’s what makes the best footballers.

He’s also starting to believe in himself too, yet is incredibly humble.

Re Balon d’Or, I couldn’t really care less, but the world we live in demands attacking players win it, so I doubt he’ll ever win it, however much he deserves it.

It's good, considering he had such an awful start to his City career...
I wish people would stop banging on about that. He made ONE mistake which was at least partly due to Akanje leaving it to him instead of putting his foot through it, and another that led to a goal (like that's never happened to a defender before), but he also made a tackle that saved a certain goal and has made countless others since. Yet everyone keeps bringing it up like he let 5 goals in or something.

I think he's always believed in himself, it's everybody else that didn't. Initial debut error massively overhyped and still is over a year on. He's barely put a foot wrong since.

Now that's a statement, the old City has been back since the cup final, hopefully another great performance next week against the tarquins and they will totally shit the bed.
They already have. For a team to start bottling it despite being 9 points clear with just 6 to play for is pathetic, but a sign of how weak they are. That's why I've backed us all season to win it.

If we manage to overhaul them after the shit season (by recent standards) we've had...
Sorry, but I don't understand how a team that is still in transition yet has already lifted one trophy and reached the semi's of the FA Cup and still be in with a decent shot at the title, can be labelled as having had a shit season...

I’m not disagreeing. He’s come into a top side after about 50 appearances with no language.

Nobody could have dreamt that his development would be this stratospheric.

Without hyperbole, he might have ended Dias’ career here, given the other centre halves we have next season.
