Chelsea (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Great result but I do wish referees would get hold of this wrestling Haaland on every cross. It's great that Nico is sneaking in but for that first goal, Haaland had two players physically holding him down stopping him from moving. It's every game now.
Agree totally with this. It just can’t be right and needs to be sorted by the PGMO and/ or Premier League..

That was fucking ridiculous.

Excellent result. I commented at HT we'd need to dig it out somehow in the 2nd half and boy did we. Great goals from us with great support from our fans, top notch.

You can add Chelsea to that and away to Spurs andWest Ham.
Mentioned Chelsea third. My take was games at home and leading, before they turned into draws. Yes Spurs was a shocker being 2-0 at HT. West Ham we didn’t play well at all.

I am a blue but I dont buy other clubs merchandise just to try and get on tv acting like a 10 year old. Funnily enough, I’d have no problem with it, if his kid was the one pissing around. Hes an adult FFS
And you're an adult (presumably) getting his knickers in a twist over a Blue engaging in our God-given right to Bert the fuck out of anyone we see fit.

For the avoidance of doubt..

For Rodders, read Tal...and if its good enough for a Balon D'or winner, just drink it in.

It is a very good point -- and not just in the box. It happens on the halfway line if anyone plays a long ball from deep into Haaland. He gets fouled 10+ times in a game like this and it is never called

Would love to know exactly how Pep changed things at half-time tactically.

I don't think we played that much faster in the second half. We were alright in the first half I thought, we just lacked a bit of quality in Chelsea's third and were occasionally left a bit open to their long balls.

But in the second half we found that bit of quality and suddenly Nunes and O'Reilly were both contributing to overloads on both wings. But we weren't being hit by those long balls anymore despite committing more bodies.

In the first half we sort of set up like this in possession:

Nunes Khusanov Guehi-----------
Semenyo Rodri Bernardo O'Reilly
--------------Cherki---------Doku---
-------------Haaland----------------

In the second half it was more like this:

---------Khusanov Guehi------------
----------Rodri Bernardo------------
Nunes---------Cherki---------O'Reilly
----Semenyo--Haaland--Doku----

But we managed to stay steady, stop them building anything, and we set up in that sort of pentagon formation round the penalty area that Pep likes. Nunes and O'Reilly were both high but we never looked top-heavy.
Pep did say, after the game, that we were attacking too much on Doku's wing. He wanted to attack on both sides. Spread the pitch, make it bigger. It worked.

Playing in Red he would win six penalties per game, Salah and Ratfink would have 100 pens a season

To be fair, that first season he had at Chelsea was staggering. But this last couple of seasons, he's been doing an impression of a hologram. Would any blue swap NOR for him?
Yes, my mistake. In 23-24 he finished on 34 games, 22 goals, 11 assists, impressive figures.

It was the following season where he had 37 games, 15 goals, 9 assists except all but 1 goal and 3 of the assists happened in gameweeks 1 to 21, in the remaining 16 games (1 missed through injury) he just fell off a cliff.

A lot of that came from our own "fans" on here too, not just the pundits. Even today the nobheads were having a go in the first half, still can't understand that you can't be 100% for 90 minutes in every match. We've actually only lost 1 out of the last 20 league matches and NONE of the domestic cup matches yet the way some bang on about it you would think we'd lost every other match.
We have truly been spoilt , the matchday thread really is toxic at times

We were poor first half...not convinced we will win the league, both us and Arse look like they can drop points, we have to be on it from the first minute on Sunday.
Beat them then it's game on !!
Pep doesn't know how the opposition is going to play from the off. We invariably work it out 10- 15min before half time. He makes the necessary changes at halftime.
