Sad passing of a loyal blue Eccles Blue

I realise that it's a dangerous precedent to set, but it'd be nice if someone on here who has connections at the club could get in touch with John, and see if he could make contact with the family. Even just sending a sympathy card. Yes; I realise that you'd get people saying "you did it for her, why not for my mum".

In this instance I think the admiration from EB was so strong that it almost has to be commemorated in some way. This wasn't just a passing obsession. I'm sure any player would feel warm inside at having received such love from a fan.

In a way, I'm pleased that she won't be around when JS leaves the club. I think she'd have beendevastated at the news.

I actually sent an email to the club early on when Sheila said she wasn't able to renew her season ticket next season due to her failing health, I explained her situation and her love for Stones and asked if the club could send it on. Didn't get a reply so damned if I know if it was acted on.

Had a nice email from her son this morning to say that the family have seen the thread and found it heartwarming to read the many messages about Sheila. He said she found a great deal of happiness, comfort & fun in the forum.

She struggled to get to games towards the end, but apparently the club (Danny Wilson & his team) were brilliant with her, offering parking passes etc. For all the stick the club gets sometimes, it's worth remembering they do an awful lot of stuff like this under the radar that they don't seek attention for.

She passed away peacefully in hospital on Easter Monday after catching pneumonia. She was 84 years old and is survived by her 4 kids, 8 grandkids, 5 great grandkids, 5 brothers & 1 sister. Funeral arrangements are still to be finalized but can be passed on for anyone wishing to attend.

A few people have asked about donations for a charity/cause close to her heart, or possibly for flowers at the funeral. Will keep you posted on that.

Great post boss. Good to know she died peacefully with dignity and with so much love from Bluemooners.

Post match threads won't be the same without her, sadly. I found her positive enthusiasm and John Stones obsession heart warming, she put many a smile on my face. Bless her: )

Such sad sad news! Always looked for Eccles posts on here! She was so positive and I loved the no swearing policy she observed! She put us all to shame on that point. A true blue through and through and will be sadly missed by all. She'll be up there cheering on her mighty blues come Sunday and every game to come. Rest in peace lovely lady. CTWD

Sadly I heard yesterday from a friend who goes on the bus from monton that Eccles Blue sadly passed away. Before her bad health started Sheila travelled home and away and liked to come on Bluemoon to support her beloved blues.

Sheila was a lovely likeable lady and will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

God bless She. True blue.

Eccles posted she had been in hospital in the match thread, her family and friends must be devastated at this news, she was bluemoon’s most esteemed poster and valued lady of the forum.

I will miss her sunny personality as a City fan supporting our club, rest in peace Shelia x

Great to hear that her family know how much love she has received on here mate.
I can’t believe she was 84, I would have never guessed. I hope i get as good an innings and still be that sharp.
RIP Eccles, you will be missed.
