Sad passing of a loyal blue Eccles Blue

Really sad news, thinking of her family at this tough time. Just feels a bit wrong this news, doesn't it?

Well known on here and very well thought of. I hope they've got front row seats up there for you, for when we run to this title.

If we can take something from this, then remember that the time comes for us all, and it's down to us what legacy we leave. If you want to be remembered fondly, take a leaf out of Eccles Blues' book.

There's that phrase, that you die twice—once when you die, and again the last time someone says your name. Eccles Blue isn't being forgotten around here anytime soon.

Had a nice email from her son this morning to say that the family have seen the thread and found it heartwarming to read the many messages about Sheila. He said she found a great deal of happiness, comfort & fun in the forum.

She struggled to get to games towards the end, but apparently the club (Danny Wilson & his team) were brilliant with her, offering parking passes etc. For all the stick the club gets sometimes, it's worth remembering they do an awful lot of stuff like this under the radar that they don't seek attention for.

She passed away peacefully in hospital on Easter Monday after catching pneumonia. She was 84 years old and is survived by her 4 kids, 8 grandkids, 5 great grandkids, 5 brothers & 1 sister. Funeral arrangements are still to be finalized but can be passed on for anyone wishing to attend.

A few people have asked about donations for a charity/cause close to her heart, or possibly for flowers at the funeral. Will keep you posted on that.

Thank you for sharing this. I wondered about her family and glad to hear she died peacefully.

I can’t believe she was 84! I had her for about 74..what a life.

Wow that's come as a proper shock. I was just browsing as you do, and came across this.
She was one of my favourite posters, and although I never met her, we interacted a few times and I really liked her.
The forum wont be the same, we have lost someone special.
Rest in peace eb we're all going to miss you x

Hi
I’m Shiela/Eccles granddaughter I just felt I had to comment and say the family are absolutely blown away by the amount of lovely and heartfelt messages on here about her.
She loved going to the football and clearly made so many wonderful friends and a real city family through it.
Thank you all for sharing your stories and words - it’s brought a smile to my face (along with a few tears) to see that other people thought as highly of her as we did x

84, a family the size of that. Loved the Blues and was clearly very loved.

What a life. May she rest in peace.

She was a ray of sunshine who reminded us all what a true fan should be - stick with the team through thick and thin. The post takeover years must have been amazing for her but I know she would have been just as passionate if we were down in the third tier.

Like many people on here, I don't post often but spend far too long reading other peoples posts. Eccles / Sheila's posts always made me smile and wished I had the same level of decorum and class she always showed. I did worry when she hadn't posted for a while and then noticed the post in missing bluemooners. My heart sank when I saw this thread, and I did not know her, to me that speaks volumes to the impact she has had on this forum and the wider City family.

Rest in peace EB.

Hi Michelle - thanks for posting this. Lovely to put a face to the posts.

I can tell you that I've been on here 18 months now and this is the first time that I've seen anything on which every poster agrees. I honestly can't think of a more popular member.

Your Nan looks exactly like I imagined her, too. A lovely lady.

I can't believe 84 either. Such a positive outlook on life, took all the little jokes in great humour. What a gem.

RIP Eccles Blue, those wonderful positive posts in the pre and post match threads always put a smile on my face. I am sure Sheila will be missed by everyone that knew her.
