Will we win the league this season? No

Still got a long way to go, but today was obviously a huge win for us and a real kick in the gut for Arsenal. At this stage of the season, psychologically results like today are massive. That could impact Arsenal massively and the 2 CL games are tough ones for them to navigate, draining games against a physical side. Let's hope we keep everyone fit, losing Rodri is a concern so let's pray it's a minor one. We've still got some tough games to play and we need to turn the goal difference favourably. A big win at Burnley will throw Arsenal a bit I think, so important we play well and win well there and then take each game as it comes after that.

One thing I will say is I dont like some of those counting their chickens already. The guy with the bottle and the selling of Arsenal bottles today I'm not into that. I know its all banter, but until were at the end, its the type of thing that can come back to bite us so save it till we win it.

Too right we will, wrote it off back in January walking off after Chelsea match with that late equaliser, but now it’s in our own hands, forget it, it’s done, every faith

Great win today.

Burnley now and maybe no Rodri will be tougher.

We had no business being in a title race this season.

Those last 7 min felt like an eternity.

Block out the noise. 3 pts next please.

Everton and Bournemouth can still get 6th place.

If Villa wins the Europa, of which I think they will, then 6th gets CL football.
If Villa win the Europa, only 5 teams will get CL football.
The exception is that Villa win the europa but finish outside the top 5 in PL, then top 5 plus Villa will qualify. Villa look like they will qualify in top 5 at the moment

That performance from Arsenal today has me doubting whether they'll fold. They gave absolutely everything and I don't think we could have had too many complaints if they'd walked away from the Etihad with a point. They had strong periods in the second half, that's for sure.

Odegaard and Eze being fit again will be a big help to them in these tighter games, too. Arsenal have missed a link between Rice, Zubimendi and the forward line for weeks now. We need to hope that either a) the Atletico games wear them out, b) they drop points one more time so that we can take advantage.

We don't need to "hope" anything really.
Just need to ensure we win every game and I think the rest will look after itself.
I know it's a tall order though ;-)

They said on SKY though mate that if Villa finish in the top 5, England gets 6 places because England will have 5 coeficcient places to fill and Villa will take their path through Europa winners.

I think its 6 mate.

If Villa get top 5.

It's all a bit confusing either way. Cant get my head around it.

Those two games will be really tough, nervy watches.

We have to look at Burnley and even Palace at home to some degree where we need to rack up a goal rout for the gd.
We may get a couple or three but can’t see a rout

I only just noticed that if we get to fa cup final we will have two games in hand at that point
Not ideal really
Also Arsenal would play Newcastle, athletico, Fulham, athletico, West Ham
We beat them Sunday it’s game on. But still a long way to go for both teams
Also cup wins and losses will play a huge mental part
First World problems, mate

Only if they finish outside the top 4

I'm not getting carried yet, even if we win at Burnley. I still have les arse as slight favourites as they play twice before our Monday night game at Everton. Good chance for them to get 6 points and - don't laugh - a few goals on us.

Still too close to call.
If being behind purely because they play earlier is going to affect us, then we lack the right mentality so may as well give up now.

Surely that would be classic 'bottling'?

You're right, though - could still go either way. If they back themselves to be more expansive they can definitely win all their matches, as can we.

Humanly impossible, but we need to try to forget their matches now. If we win all ours I can't see them beating us.

If Villa finish 4th (or 3rd), then the extra CL spot only goes to the team finishing in 5th. So 6th = Europa.
If Villa finish 5th (and win the Europa) then they qualify for the CL as Europa winners, and the extra CL spot goes to the 6th place team. (As an aside, we lose a Europa League spot in that scenario.)

So CL does go down to 6th but only if Villa win the Europa and finish exactly 5th.

Hope this helps.

(Trust UEFA to make things complicated!)
