27 | Matheus Nunes - 2025/26

Never thought he'd come back from throwing that Manchester derby away.

The turnaround started in that Chelsea 3-1 home game when we took advantage of their high line, and then it really kicked off when he assisted O'Reilly's opener at Everton and then got the winner against Villa three days later.

He's been a revelation since. That goal and assist vs Burnley, followed by a really strong performance vs Everton, sealed the transformation. Fans were actually chanting his name vs Everton - I bet it did wonders for him.

he is the most underrated player in the league. how on earth is he not nominated for TOTS.

The amount of people I see still talking about Livramento coming in the summer blows my mind. Nunes is better in every single way. We have the best RB in the league.
Livramento is a sick note and always will be in his career. Happy to put money on that.

Nunes is never injured and fucking well up for it. So glad to see him in the Portugal team!

didn't have his best game I thought but that's okay. Another clean sheet in the bag

At the start of the season, there was a general feeling that Nunes was the weak point in City's side, and that bringing in a first choice right back was a priority.

But looking at things now, that doesn't really seem to be the case anymore. It's not about replacing Nunes - it's about adding depth.

What we now need is actually a younger player/understudy - someone like Read at Feyenoord who can come in, develop and learn from Nunes rather than immediately take his place. And in many ways, that shift in perspective is a huge credit to Pep. The master.

One dodgy moment towards the end, felt like he was going to give away a penalty but thankfully wasn't the case. Apart from that, had a solid game, got very little help from Semenyo failing to track his man all the way back.

I could not see this lad doing a job for us long term. He's the most improved player in the squad/league. I apologise for misjudging you Mattheus. More than anything I admire your attitude and the graft you've clearly committed to to becoming a very good right back.
