Will we win the league this season? No

Fucking nervous that second half. Not gonna get carried away, quietly confident we have taken a big step towards another league. 17th May is when we win it imo. Getting to that game is going to be the hard part.

Closer than yesterday -:)

That performance from Arsenal today has me doubting whether they'll fold. They gave absolutely everything and I don't think we could have had too many complaints if they'd walked away from the Etihad with a point. They had strong periods in the second half, that's for sure.

Odegaard and Eze being fit again will be a big help to them in these tighter games, too. Arsenal have missed a link between Rice, Zubimendi and the forward line for weeks now. We need to hope that either a) the Atletico games wear them out, b) they drop points one more time so that we can take advantage.
Funny because I’m pretty sure you thought they were going to shit themselves and sit on their goal line praying for a 0-0 in the pre match?

I only just noticed that if we get to fa cup final we will have two games in hand at that point
Not ideal really
Also Arsenal would play Newcastle, athletico, Fulham, athletico, West Ham
We beat them Sunday it’s game on. But still a long way to go for both teams
Also cup wins and losses will play a huge mental part
We won't have two games in hand as one will already have been played by then.

The first of the two outstanding games (probably Palace but could be Bournemouth) will be played in the midweek prior to the cup final with the other one a week later during the final midweek of the season.

My remaining concerns going forward in the title race.

Everton away. It won’t be easy.
Bournemouth away. They are on a winning run and playing great football. It is never easy going there and getting a win.
Villa at home last game if the season. A very good team, with a good manager.
Arsenal at home to Burnley. It could be a cricket score, which could have a huge impact on the goal difference.
Playing a possible FA Cup final before the end of the season.
The amount of rearranged fixtures if City get to the FA cup final.
Hopefully West Ham and Palace at home can get results against Arsenal?
Hopefully we can come through that and win the title, and do the domestic Treble.

Didn't say they were going to shit themselves. I thought they'd come to make it stodgy and stink the place out. A lot of us did. Their line-up completely shocked me (it shocked even Arsenal fans) and has me slightly worried that Arteta has now realised that trying to play the marginals and making games stodgy actually isn't helping them at all.

We have a much harder run in than them, and after Burnley, which is a must win, hopefully not a repeat of West Ham where we missed so much, they can go 6 points clear as play twice before our tough game at Everton

They could have gone 12 points clear in they won their last two league games!

We must have been watching two different teams. They have multiple players who have been completely run into the ground and it’s only going to get tougher for them now. This two leg tie against atletico is going to be absolutely brutal

They could have been 12 points clear after the Bournmouth game. This will not be lost on their players

I think the likes of Raya, Hincapie, Rice, Zubimendi, and Trossard look emotionally and physically done in, but players like Timber will come back, while Odegaard, Havertz, and especially Eze looked really fresh today and made Arsenal far more dangerous and potent than any of their other players have. I was equally surprised and relieved when Eze got subbed off.

in this example, Aston Villa have earned a place in the Champions League but finished in a league position that qualifies them for the Europa League.

Uefa rules state that the berth in the lower competition has to be forfeited and passed to another league.

For instance, La Liga had no team in the first edition of the Conference League because Villarreal won a European competition and finished in seventh.

Let's say Villa finish fifth. The Premier League gives up the Europa League place.

Then you apply the EPS, which goes to sixth - the first team not in the Champions League.

The Conference League place drops to seventh.

If Villa finish sixth, then it is the Conference League place which is given up. After the EPS, eighth plays in the Europa League.

But could Villa winning the Europa League give England a ninth European spot? Only if they finish outside the domestic European places.

The same Everton that lost to Slots shite scousers
Bournmouth due a loss
Villa will have CL football wrapped up by then. Emery hates Arsenal
We also play Burnley and have better attackers than Arsenal

Other than his effort that hit the post he didnt do anything of note all game. His workrate off the ball is shocking.

In our last 4 games we have played Liverpool away, Chelsea away and Arsenal twice. We have conceded 1 goal and scored 11, plus won a trophy in them four games!!!

Personally, I don't think we will win the league, because we will will drop silly point like we have all season!

It will be some achievement if we do tho!

Europa League Final is 3-4 days before Villa (H).

They'll be safely into the CL on league position but I'll be rooting for them in the Final so they can go on the piss. Send Grealish out there to get them into the mood.

Share your thoughts on Everton and Bournemouth though, those 2 are just about winning.

Have to rack up the goals in the other 4.

I think their fixtures are quite a lot easier so we have to win all our games and hope they drop points somewhere. Alternatively we need to win all our games big quite a few goals in case it comes down to goal difference.
I'd be delighted if points, GD and goals scored were identical and we won it on head to head though.
Had we tonked them 4-1 as we did a few seasons ago then I think they'd have imploded. As it was they showed enough to keep me thinking those 10 or 12 points dropped from winning positions (and the pitiful performance at the swamp) will come back to haunt us.
Having said that, I've seen enough to suggest we'll be in contention next season and will piss the league if we cut out the silly mistakes. We also need to sort out a couple of players who only play well for 3 or 4 games in every ten, but that's for another thread.
PS: Khus for Player of the Season, and NO'R for Young Player of the Season. Actually, NO'R could win both!!
