Arsenal (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Immediately posted this in the match day thread after our winner, but when Donna faked the throw to Marc which created the space to launch it to Nico, I was completely convinced we were scoring from that phase of play. Like I really knew we would score, so much so, I barely celebrated when we did.

Anyone else ever had this experience watching us over the years?

It was a lovely feeling albeit I felt a little robbed once it sunk in.

We don't need to use him as a ball player, as much as we did with Ederson. He is obviously not confident or skilled with the ball at his feet.
Before they scored we needlessly kicked 2 balls out in the first 10 minutes for corners when there wasn't an arsenal player within 20 yards of our defenders.
Khusanov was one of those.
Same with the throw in that lead up to the goal. Why throw it back?
There is no advantage whatsoever in bringing Donnarumma into play unnecessarily.
The way we play nowadays means we need a shot stopper..

Donna is the best in the business IMO at this.

He's one of the best signings we've made since Haaland.

Monumental performance with Haaland overpowering Gabriel yet again. Bernardo out of this world. Doku a constant menace. Khusanov - truly world class. O'Reilly - strength, pace, skill and real understanding of the game, Cherki - what can I say - a £30m world class youngster dancing through the Arsenal defence, Guehi - world class, Haaland - world's greatest striker, Nunes - consistent, Donna - world's best despite the error, Semenyo - great start to his City career but needs the right studs, Rodders - close to his very best.

Now I've had me cocoa I can safely say we are levels above Arsenal . This new incarnation of City is beginning to purr.

All that blather about Arsenal playing better doesn't mask the fact that they simply don't see the forward pass . They have been drilled to distraction and have no flair . We gifted them a goal but most of the time they sat in a mid block and usually played the safe ball back to a CB . Maybe they were playing for a draw but , if your are aiming to be Champions , you need to be winning these games with style . You need to put a marker down . Only one team wanted to do that .And it wasn't Arsenal .

I thought Harland was magnificent today , along with Bernardo, Cherki , Rodri , NOR and Kus . But for a couple of poor first touches from Semeyno we could have had a couple more .

Come on you Blues .

What u on mate? Give me a dm -:)

Or the lotto numbers.

Yea I know what u mean. I expected us to win that match. It’s not cocky but I just felt we were going to do it. Same with the goal. The patterns we see so many matches and the moment you described is one of those.

That inability to find a way to win is what has set us apart. You either have it or you don’t. We do thank fuck -:)

At this level you shouldn’t have up worry about throwing it back to the keeper. Wasn’t Nunes fault. Donna took a bad touch and he is such a big guy he’s always going to take that fraction longer swinging those long legs. Plus it was excellent closing down by Havertz. It might alert teams to press us more after that.

The commentary from Neville is not commensurate with the footage.

Viewers are watching a young make shift left back, showing supreme skill, ball control and the audacity to take on 2 oppenents in a tight situation..... ,on the touch line, with little margin for error..
Before then sending a 3rd oppenent the wrong way with a wicked body swerve ...and passing to a blue shirt.
Basically the highest ball playing technique you wil ever see from a ' fullback' ..( I've never in my life see a full back do that)

And all Neville can do ,in a low, flat , monotone voice is mumble on about when he was a full back( 30 years ago ?) and say " what is that?"

The state of modern football punditry .....so biased. That audacious bit of skill should be accompanied by " what a brilliant piece of skill from the young City left back, look how he controls the ball and out wits 3 players ."

If that had been a utd home grown youngster doing that,it would have been played on Motd opening footage for the next decade.

I am biased,as a blue.....,but why can't pundits do their job and bring the skilful parts of the game to life, educating viewers, esp the young, to what they are actually seeing.

Brilliance.raw Brilliance.

Cherki..
I can't think of enough superlatives to chuck at this young lad.
How other big clubs didn't have him on their radar for this gobsmakingly bargain price is an absolute puzzle.
He seems to have the fucking lot in his bag of tricks and skill.
Surely he's already worth an absolute fortune.
