10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

Gorgeous goal, truly, but the game past him by in the 2nd half
I actually think the second half showed just how much he has progressed in a Pep system. He did a lot of hard yards keeping shape and supporting Erling in making it less easy for Arsenal to dictate the play. Notice how much better Arsenal were once we made subs. His work off the ball has definitely increased and added to his God given talent is one of, if not the most important player in the side.

Still find it bewildering how much room opponents afford him; It’s not as if there isn’t enough tape to study. In fairness, though, he’s increasingly drifting miles away from actual play, often to the other side of the park, so suddenly he’s there: ‘as if by magic’.

Ive watched city since Keegan was in charge...ive seen David silva, yaya, sergio....and...Rayan Cherki is the most naturally talented footballer ive ever watched. He's a crazy level of talent.
You should have mentioned Ali Benarbia and Eyal Berkovic then, both stand out players during Keegan's tenure as manager.

Zidane was right that we should get him. But instead we went out and got Mastantuono for more money. smh

They have no option when Haaland is taking 2 players with him wherever he goes and Doku is being double or triple marked everytime he gets the ball. The space he gets is largely down to those around him creating it for him. He still had to get himself in the right pockets and do something with it but take those players out of thr current setup and cherki gets nowhere near the same space.

True, but I’m talking about opponent’s’ midfielders, not defenders. At certain points, Cherki will just amble across to the touchline, sometimes as deep as the halfway line- almost as if injured, at which point the opponents switch off and see him as no threat. When he then decides to reenter, nobody seems to be earmarked to take responsibility for picking him up. It’s obviously a deliberate ploy.

A footballer seem too crude a description. I'd say he's more of a penisballer or eroticballer or kinkyballer or twinkletoeballer. Unless you are into feet and then I guess he really is a footballer.

Some lads in the pub put on ‘Panic’ on the jukebox after the game and were singing along..

When it got to the ‘hang the dj’ bit they replaced it with RAY-AN-CHER-KI and chanted it loud and proud and then stuck it on again another half dozen times, sounded great, hopefully others pick it up. Always wondered why that line has never been adapted before as it’s essentially a chant within a song.

We tried it for Wilfried Bony but he only ever scored about three goals so didn’t take off.
