Will we win the league this season? No

My personal view is this title race is as near to 50%/50% as can be.

We've the more challenging run, with cup matches, better position mentally with momentum.
They've got 3 more points on the board, marginal goal difference advantage, a simpler run in, but with European commitments and also wandering confidence with a liberal sprinkling of nerves....

punters are jumping on us understandably, but i think this scenario is now completely in the balance if it was played over and over, 1,000 times.

It's in the balance if you take into account only this season.

But Pep's record means something. It doesn't guarantee success, but arguably it does increase the chance that City win, whether by 5 or 15 %.

Going to be a monstrous effort to win prem and FA Cup. I can’t see us winning every game. We need West Ham and Newcastle to help us. Fulham, Burnley and Palace can’t be relied on.
Yeah - it's annoying that Everton has been scheduled for the Monday as we could have slotted Bournemouth in that week. As it is we have an unbalanced schedule after Wednesday, potentially something like - 2 days off - 9 (NINE!) days off - 4 days off - 2 days off - 3 days off - CUP FINAL - 2 days off - 4 days off.

Really need 2 of Marmoush (can we hypnotise him to think he's playing Newcastle all the time?) Foden Reijinders and (cough) Savinho to come to the party.

Is this right? Just checked out fixtures (via Gemini AI) and it has the Palace game down on Fri 22nd May??

And the FA Cup final is May 16th, so if we get there then Bournemouth game will probably end up on Tuesday May 19th?!

I fear the fixture pile-up will do us in.

On paper we have the harder run in.

Burnley is the only game that matters for now.

Funny that during first 20 pages of this thread there were those who thought we wouldn't even finish in the top half the league.

Extremely unlikely that a crucial PL game would be rescheduled for that midweek if we weren’t playing on Monday unless there was no other feasible alternative. The broadcasters wouldn’t want it going against a CL SF.

Irritating but a fact of life in today’s top level football.

That date for Palace is just a placeholder on fixture lists until something definite is confirmed.

Assuming we reach the cup final our run in will be something like

9th Brentford H
12th Bournemouth A
16th FA cup final
19th Palace H
24th Villa H

(Europa Final is 20th; Conference is 27th I think)

It's genuine a farce that we'll have had to be a game behind for almost 3 months of the season, a crucial part of the season too.

I think the PL needs to future proof against this. It should have been swapped with a team that wasn't in Europe so we could play it sooner.

Well Gemini seems to think Everton still play at goodison if your pic is anything to go by

Still very tough but after yesterday it's obviously improved our chances. Will there be another twist one way or the other? You'd have to suspect so.

Only the next game matters right now.

At this stage, just like in Major Golf tournements, its all about the next hole and nothing else.

I am sure Pep wont have the players focussed on anything else. They certaintly wont be looking at Arsenals run-in and comparing.

Yes, I'm certain of it.

I think we have to win all six games because I'm pretty sure Arse will win all five of theirs. Six on the bounce is nothing though,it was nineteen once wasn't it? Also, over our last four games we've beaten the leaders twice, plus Chelsea away, destoyed the Dippers, and conceded one freak goal. So I think we'll outscore them to win the title.

There's absolutely nothing to fear, we did the hard work yesterday.

We get a nice break before the Everton game. Arsenal's games against Athletico is going to take a lot out of them. I don't fancy them to win all their games and even though ours are tougher, our team are mentality monsters. I think we'll win every game.

You’re in for a big surprise then

My spider senses are tingling, and they’re telling me that Arsenal are going to further bottle their title chances with a defeat on Saturday, at home to The Toon.

Big call. Newcastle are probably the best team they could be playing in their next game, to bounce back against. Given the terrible form they are in and the pressure on the manager.

Arsenal will feel a bit more confident after that performance yesterday. I can see them winning out with their fixtures and they will know full well we have some really tough fixtures Everton away, Bournemouth and not to mention a very dangerous Villa last game. With that I still have Arsenal slight favourites only because we could possibly draw one or two of ours. Hopefully not though and we put in a magnificent run to the end.

PL isn't interested in doing us any favors. They are trying to destroy us in court if that means anything. Title run in could be a lot better if Gabriel had gotten that well-deserved red card yesterday and been banned for 3 games. Still think it's ours to lose though.

If anything the pressure has actually been released from Arsenal.

They now have nothing to lose and the worst has happened.

It’s just as likely to free them as it is to finish them. We will not know until they play their next few games.

The worst hasn't happened.

They could have worsened their goal difference, and also had their best defender suspended for the next 3 games!
