Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

They are building the narrative already if Arse win it, they will refer to our over indulgent celebrations on Sunday, if they pip us on GD they will refer to the missed chances last night. And yes the bottle meme will definitely come back to bite us big style. It’s instigator will become infamous and may need to take a self enforced break from social media and even then it’s highly likely the mainstream media will track him down for part 2 the revenge
The bottle meme was one fan, not City and it won't come back to bite us regardless of what happens because we can't be considered bottlers if we lose it from here. We've made a monumental effort with a team that's in rebuilding mode and have already achieved more than most suggested we would, even a month ago.

Because of the two recent draws, both of which we deserved to win, there were "fans" on here suggesting we'd get turned over by Arsenal at Wembley, fall apart, get battered by Liverpool and be lucky to scrape second place. That hasn't happened.

Like someone else has posted, 9 days ago, they were 9 points clear.

Their arses have fallen out over the course of the last few weeks. In near monumental fashion.

What exactly do you think will have given Arsenal 'belief' tonight? The fact we created 28 chances away from home and only scored 1? They haven't created 28 chances in their last 5 games.

We just need to win all our games. And we completed the first part of that tonight. Don't get sucked in by the media driven narrative that this title race is going to goal difference. Because it isn't mate.
Great post, spot on.

People have different opinion about the gooners drinking bottle but it’s stuck in tiny corner of their left side brain , it’s human nature even on meditative state of mind that little boubt keeps popping no matter how much you want to block it .

The ball will be in play for about 25 minutes a game what with all the diving, rolling, time wasting, 3 minute corner setup etc. It's the perfect game for them. They'll be rested!
I do t think so, particularly the 2nd leg. Athletic will work to frustrate and rough up Le Arse.

Remember when we beat them. Such a horrible match.

No league winner shirt were printed
No inflatable uefa cup
It’s just a tiny bottle unfortunately with gooners logo, the man waited until 3 up to celebrate .

Twists and turns, twists and turns, plenty more to come. Everyone expecting a landslide of goals against Burnley and it didn't happen. Everyone saying Bournemouth away will be our toughest game because they beat Arsenal at The Emirates but then last night couldn't beat Leeds at home. Keep a cool head, take one game at a time. Don't think about winning 5 straight games just think of winning one - the next one and it will take care of itself. If we lose it then we've given it a bloody good go unexpectedly and against all the odds. And if we win it then its rock n' roll man and lets party. This one is a bit of a free hit for us. I'm finiding it funny how everyone outside of City is reacting. We've won that many recently it will of course be disappointing but much quicker to get over especially if we do a double with the cups.

It's everybody else who needs to calm down. We've gone top for the first time in nearly 7 months yet people are moaning because we didn't score more. Obviously it MIGHT have been better if we had scored more, I say "might" because it might not matter at all of we out-point Arse for the remainder of the season, which I believe we will.

People need to get a grip, there were more bottlers in here last night than Arsenal have ever had and we WON! Sorry I didn't think to search for your other post to see what you might have posted, sounds like it was stating the bleedin' obvious anyway but hey-ho.
Think you seriously need to calm pal.
You're beginning to grate on me.
I wasn't moaning, I was fucking buzzing we won AGAIN.
But if you decided to get on my back at daft o'clock in the morning because you were reading about lots of others posting that we could of done with scoring a couple more of our many chances then maybe you need a new hobby.
Either way move on and let's both hope we're toasting more success in the next few weeks.

Yep

City have turned the season into a blockbuster must-watch title run in ? City from nowhere are the winners again in the League Cup beating Arsenal, topping the league vs Arsenal CITY showing it can be done.
We were the media’s sacrificial lambs to the slaughter in the Carabao, that’s why it tasted so sweet

28 shots at goal, 9 on target with an XG of 3.54 and 65.5% possession.

Nothing ‘shite’ about it, we’ve clawed back the 9pt gap in a fortnight or so and gone TOP!!!
28 "shots". I'm not talking about previous weeks and how far back we were.

Last night was a missed opportunity to really ramp up the pressure against one of the worst teams in living memory and with the last play of the game we were wildly swiping at the ball to not blow it.

Great to be top, but that was not a good performance.

We won't win the league if we play the way we did against Burnley yesterday but I hope it was just boys being exhausted because after the big game against Arsenal they only had 3 days of rest. Pep needs to rest at least half of our starting XI against Southampton on Saturday so they can come back fully rested against Everton on May 4th.

It was fatigue I think and he will make a lot of changes, possibly 8/9 knowing him.

Clearly nerves got to some of the younger players that’s why we need Rodri back, Gonzalez should’ve started with OReilly at left back, it’s clear Ait Noiri can’t do that job of moving forward he is better going down the wing and crossing in, something he didn’t do all night even though it was screaming for the overlap. Hopefully nerves get to Arsenal now but it’s going to be tight this run in or goal difference won’t mean a thing as one team drops points.
Didn't see that, we could have easily scored 4 or more.

Always going to be a come down after putting everything into much bigger and tougher games recently.

Never witnessed a terrible City victory before , but looking at all the bullshit in the news today , it was an awful victory , and the Goons are back in control , clutching at straws me thinks
