Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Some people believed it. Probably @LangleyBlue1970 and @RayCTID. BUT...go back 27 years...not everyone believed we'd beat Gillingham as they walked out of wembley/the pub.

Some of us sat there numb at 93:19.

Some of us suffered through the whole of 90's with dickhead united friends taking the piss.

Some of us haven't got the incredible and bizarre faith in a club that was a basket case for near on 3 decades...that doesn't mean we don't love the club and the fans...but faith is a funny thing.

What's funny is the people who are so positive now are also the ones that remind us what a fuck up we were for the first 3/4 of my life and that's why we should be happy now.

However.....................beating United in that FA CUP final, me and my son hugging a hug that would make the whole world happy...well that was the pinnacle of my life - and i'm thankful for that moment alone.

I've had a drink.
I was as numb as anybody that day at 93:19, even more so at the play-off final and everybody was likely the same. But what winds me up are the people who fall to pieces when we get a draw or two, or we dont score 5 at Burnley so they immediately write off our chances.

This club have proved they can get over the line time and time again but they expect perfection every time yet those fans don't have any faith in us. How many times this season and last have fans called for Pep to go? I've lost count.

Watching the reruns, I've noticed that the Burnley XI was stationed in their own box for long spells of the match. After Haalands goal, our lads did really try to score, through 22 legs, to no avail. One was enough for the win though.

Just got round to watching it back. Sorry, but that second half is purely and simply energy conservation football. That is what they're doing, especially in midfield. They didn't play badly, they didn't play well. They played to save energy, full stop. They must have been pretty shattered after Sunday and they thought, “Fuck this, we're giving ourselves a bit of a rest”. The only two who had a bit of sweat on their brow were Erling, who did make quite a few runs, and Bernie, of course, because when have we seen Bernie not run in a match?
Pep looked properly pissed off for the last twenty minutes and at final whistle. When he seized Bernardo's arm so as to not let him walk away, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was saying something along the lines of “Those were not the instructions I gave you lot. You're the captain, you should have bollocked the others.”
You're probably right about the players feeling a bit drained after Sunday. But, I think you're reading too much into that second half performance. City were knocking on the door the whole of the half. Some poor finishing was all that stopped it being a 3 or 4 nil win. Haaland hit the post and missed a sitter. NOR rolled one back to the keeper from the edge of the 6 yard box. Cherki wasn't quite spot on with a couple of through balls.

This sums it up. What you see in the match thread and the post-post-are just emotions taking over, stress-fuelled comments that have little bearing on what actually happened on the pitch.

One even said during the Carabau final, before we'd scored, that we would be better off if Pep left at the end of the season. Drives me mad.

I think 100% of the Manchester City fans back then in 2011 would have been happy with just winning the FA cup and beating the scum in the semi-final. But now we are up to 19 trophies and counting WOW
And 40 points ;)

Game before and after gooners was my biggest concern and vital in my book but handled the situation like a champ.
I think we’ll look back to this match as the most important win come end of the season .

That's the biggest thing in football for the non-top 4 or 6 clubs ?
But turning Manchester City into a top 4 club was more than just splashing the cash ? Mancini turned us into a big club

Money helps 100%. But Mancini had to sort the mess out. We overpaid on almost every player and stocked up on getting the image out there by trying to buy everybody, even Rooney hahaha well the bull in the next field

Voted Cherki man of the match , every time he got the ball he drove forward into the penalty area and tried everything to add a few goals , mind you some idiot on hear stated he thinks Pep might now drop Cherki for the next games ,and it wasnt a wind up , YCNMIU.
