Probably classic MAGA distraction ploy, but if there's anything in it, it will be on behalf of that Javier Milei fella, the one with the crazy hair (another distraction technique - See Boris Johnson).

Trump would see it as an easy win. Land troops virtually unopposed, take over government, tell the islanders they can stay or go, followed a quick photo opportunity with Milei on Port Stanley harbour. Job done for the greatest military ever seen on earth etc etc.

The Argies threatened when Labour were in power in 1977. Op Journeyman was carried out in strict secrecy. A sub and two frigates sent down with support vessels. The Argies backed off. These days, we could maybe jut about muster the ships, but the Yanks probably know the exact location of all our surface and sub surface assets at any one time.
