I just hope & pray for the lad that whatever is going on is temporary and not a permanent illness that may end his career.

So sad to see.
Phil’s confidence is shot to pieces.
Can’t take a player on.
Can’t play a decisive ball forwards.
A truly remarkable footballer is now limited to playing 5 yard back passes.
A player that was amazing on the 1/2 turn that is now hiding behind opposition players so he can’t receive the ball.
I’m absolutely gutted.
Hopefully he can get back to where he was but I really fear that it won’t be with us and maybe further down the league pyramid.
His World Cup dreams are over.
Concentrate on your health and mental health would be my advice.
And hopefully, we’ll see the Phil we all know and love back in a blue shirt.

I'd dispute he has fulfilled his potential, yes he's won plenty of medals as part of a very successful and dominant side, but he's only had one season where he's truly looked like the player we all expected him to become.

Something clearly not right behind the scenes. He's lost so much weight.

Felt like he spent most of his time on the pitch facing our own goal, with his two hands out expressing his desire for someone to pass it to his feet.

Then the few times he did receive it, just immediately played it back to whoever passed it to him and then jogged off somewhere else.
When he was at his best it felt like he'd take it in, on the turn, and drive at the defence.

Hard to see the solution currently. He isn't a winger, and he isn't our best number 10. He hasn't got that Bernardo/David Silva ability to dictate a game either.

Never plays with his body on the half turn anymore which was his trademark. Happy just to receive the ball and play it immediately back.to the passer. It's sad to see what he has become from what he was.

Will only last so long with Pep if he carries on like this, will be sent out on loan.

Pep gave him 10 minutes after half time and had seen enough

Feels like his lost the trust and confidence of Pep now, which would be a huge concern

Not sure how he comes back from this at City, or whether he has the will to

It pains me to say it, but he looks like someone who just needs a fresh start somewhere. Maybe if Pep goes and a new voice comes in it will do him some real good. But maybe he just needs a new challenge and a new environment. Will always love him and hold him in fantastic regard, but maybe it's just time.

Every time he had the chance to turn on the ball and go forward and make something happen, he instead instantly gave the ball back to whoever gave it him making him essentially a moving wall. In many ways that is far worse than having an absolute stinker where he cant find a blue shirt. Signs of a complete lack of self confidence, not sure how he gets that swagger back and without it he isn't a footballer. Worrying performance.

That was a seriously concerning performance never mind form he didn't even look to have the ability or physicality to do anything against a championship side.

Championship sides tend to be more physical than PL, hopefully he’ll come back firing on all cylinders next season after a good break

He looks like a 16 year old breaking through. But without the enthusiasm.
Weaker compared to the opposition, not ready, and sadly too safe.
It’s so weird. Ultimately there is clearly something much deeper at play here.

He has never been the same since his awesome season. I cannot think of an English player that has been able to move on from hitting heights since Wayne Rooney (spit).
