Noel Gallagher and City.

He wasn’t at the QPR game. He was on tour in South America.
Well I will have to put it down to old age, again. But it was one of our premiership winning games and he was saying it in the loo whilst having a slash. I saw him many times in the restaurant over the years so I am probably getting confused, we have won so many:-)
But my point remains he is a top City supporter.

Has anyone got a decent pic of the banner?
Was underneath it in 110 and couldn’t really see what it looked like

Personally think it's great for the club that two of the biggest rocks stars in the world are City fans. Find it a bit odd when people question their loyalty. They're clearly both very passionate Blues. Good to see them both celebrating another Wembley victory yesterday.
This. And I just don’t get the criticism of them. So they aren’t at every game? So what? Life gets in the way.

The greatest thing in my opinion about being a blue is that kinship, that sense of belonging to a family of blues. I’m not a rock star, I’m not from Burnage, but when Nico put that thunderbastard in yesterday I felt exactly the same thing as they did, my kids felt exactly the same thing as their kids, we all felt exactly the same thing.

I don’t get the criticism at all.

Clearly a bullshit story haha

Noel has always been a blue and plenty of people can vouch for him being there before he was famous.

Love some of the nonsense on here: "you never see him at all the games" - Like he works 9-5 with all weekend free. He's a touring musician that even missed the champions league final because of tour commitments.
On tour Noel does what we do find the nearest pub/ bar and watch the Aguero 93.20 moment in Chile :)

Where the fuck have I said he’s not a blue and he wasn’t going to games before he was famous?

You do realise that this so-called “bullshit story” is from a well known poster on here who has been on this forum a lot longer than you have? And he’s not the only one who can vouch for Noel supporting Celtic as well as City in his younger days.

Personally, I know what I believe. And anyone coming out with that line ahead of what was, at the time, our biggest FA Cup game for 5 years - a game that any blue worth their salt was absolutely bang up for - is a bit of a twat to be honest.
Still think its bullshit, or was said in jest.

People will always be jealous and look to take people down where they are successful, even if it’s a forum where there’s no chance they will see it or anyone will pay any attention.

People questioning if he’s a proper blue is mind blowing. One of the biggest names in music in the world and shows up in the away end at all sorts of games stood with the rest of us. Pretty sure if he wasn’t a real fan he wouldn’t waste his time.
It’s a very British thing to do. Shit on those that come from the same stock as you but do well.

Who remembers the cup final penalties, a young Aguero and YaYa taking a penalty, the club had a camera on Noel. It’s mutually advantageous for the club, to invite Noel and sometimes Liam to join in with us.
Liam rarely goes to games any time he does he gets carried away. Nearly ended up on the pitch in Italy.

I got into Oasis at the outset, before most people had even heard of them as i saw Noel had a City sticker on his guitar.
It took some balls to come out and back City, because as a new band you could alienate half your fucking audience !
Up the blues and up Noel & Liam
CTWD
Only half? ;)

If I didn't know better I could imagine them being blues just to be edgy and piss the establishment off.

It is very mutually advantageous.

There were thousands of people from all around the world at Heaton Park wearing our 1995 home shirt, I asked a few of them if they were blues and they said not really but they bought it and like City because of Oasis. One had ordered City merchandise from the club for example.

Oasis are probably the most popular group still touring currently (I think more so than even The Rolling Stones right now because the latter never went away and Oasis had a 16 year breakup).

Seeing them talking up City is positive. It’s also funny because a lot of journalists are scared of them still so they suddenly don’t act like anti-City gobshites when they’re in front of Liam and Noel.

Yeah dead easy to not be in that position.....have you not noticed the amount of times the co-op has a gig on when we're at home?

Tour dates will have been out in place a long time before the season even started....What's he going to do? Fuck off thousands of Argentinian music fans or whichever country he was playing in so he could get a 'freebie' for the final.

I'd imagine he was fucking gutted missing the game.
The final dates are known over 3 years before.

It isn't the first priority for a lot of fans when booking holidays etc.

Because he said it on TV..
Not on about that ,the other bit about him only being interested at the business end ?

I’m 56 and actually used to go many a match with himAnd his mates from leve and burnage in the mid to late 80’s and I can assure and guarantee you -and any other blue who experienced that era -that he was in no way a glory hunter !

Ridiculous comment ,and very unfair

Because he only goes to games towards the end of the season. This isn't hard mate. You've taken my opinion personally, because you used to go to games with him.

Still see him all over mate , all times of the season ,
U are way off the mark

I’ll say it again he is no glory hunter

Top blue

And uses his lofty media presence to champion City at every opportunity !

What’s not to like?

Give him a break ?

Some absolute fuckin shite spouted on here, used to see Noel a lot hone and away in the 80's, our kid knew him quite well when he was a roadie for Inspiral Carpets, he's a proper blue
I interviewed the Carpets backstage in May 89 at the University for the Blue Print fanzine as I heard members of the band were Blues.
Turns out the original singer and bass player who had since left were indeed blues leaving Craig Gill the drummer as the sole remaining blue. I’m talking with Craig and in comes 808 State and MC Tunes who had just finished their set as support.
Tunes comes over and starts talking shite about the rags which annoys both me and Craig. The door opens and a scruffy urchin announces that the stage is all set. Craig asks him to come over and fight our corner…. The scruffy urchin says a couple of choice words about the rags and pro City and then heads off to be at the stage.

A few years later I got to learn who the scruffy urchin was!
RIP Craig
