Southampton fans coming out today

And significantly the higher numbers will usually mean higher numbers of knobheads
Yes, the marginal numbers attending will contain significantly more bellends than the core support, for lots of reasons. Many casual (even some non) supporters who will have been there would naturally be less inclined to self regulate their behaviour than a regular match-going supporter attending with their kids.

The expectation of a big event which ends in disappointment, when folk have been drinking all day (and on the packet) often makes people’s inhibitions disappear very quickly too. It’s how some people’s brains process that scenario (realise not all examples on this thread were after the game though).

I am glad I didn't get that job in Southampton in 1973 - the job I applied for in New Zealand in 1974 has turned out much better. Do not have to put up with any dickheads as most people do not know what real football is - they think throwing a misshapen ball to each other is football. At least the Aussies call AFL - footie. (We lived in Melbourne 1991 - 2000)

Southampton's average attendance this season, 28,305.
Said that before the game. So where have the other 10 thousand come from. We parked our car at the west end of the ground in a multi storey carpark, same last year against Palace, and had to walk through them all. A few remarks to me and my lads, nothing too much though. One saying how slutchy wed been, I just replied " yeah right whatever mate". Which seemed to baffle him and one calling my lad a Jesus Christ mother looking fucker, which I didn't hear but was told about in the car after. Didn't see any trouble though.

I didnt mind the 'mush'! Thought it was funny.
All clubs including my own has dickheads but i was surprised how many Southampton were arseholes yesterday. What I didn't find funny was my son who is autistic and has issues with anxiety being on the end of menacing behaviour, and other people experiencing the same.
Sorry about your son’s experience. People don’t realise (or care) that amongst any group of fans there are some that don’t need the macho stuff.

Same with Villa fans. I was genuinely shocked at just how bad they were in the league cup final.I actually was pleased they were doing well.but ever since that day I've hated the cunts.
Same here about Villa since though was indifferent about them before. They had the highest bunch of cunts barring the Uniturd semi in 2011. Not far off those levels.

Much as I loathe Arsenal the club and the entitlement and anti-City behaviour in their fans i have not experienced bad behaviour at Wembley when we've played them - of course there would have been a few exceptions.

Villa in 2020 and Uniturd in 2011 it was most of them acting up in my experience.

Stopped going to semi finals for fear of safety. It’s ridiculous how congestive it gets after the game.
Yes the final seems much safer, as the losing teams fans disappear quickly whilst the winning teams fans stay behind for the trophy lift, so reduces the numbers meeting up.

Strange. I'm sure I read on here that some people found it one of the quickest walks back up Wembley Way they'd experienced.
We joined the huge queue and I remarked that it was going to take forever... but it moved unusually quickly

If you buy a seat near a gangway and select a block near Wembley Way, then you can beat the Red Stop signs on Wembley Way, and the consequent congestion.

Yep, much much quicker than the League cup final. Was halted once just at the tunnel before the steps up to the tube station and then platform sufficiently quiet that we managed to get on the first train back to Wealdstone. I think when you leave after a trophy lift the opposition fans have gone ahead so less aggro but they've already created the bottle neck that you are them stuck in. Still not sure that explains how easy it was to get away on Saturday though :shrugs.

Definitely Sunderland then Watford. Both very sporting in my experience. Stoke, from what I saw, surprisingly were fine in 2011 too. I know, Stoke!
Had to walk through the Stoke fans after the game we zipped up and didnt show colours yet despite that we were stoped a few times with handshakes saying deserved the win and wishing all the best Like you said Stoke!

Glad you had that experience. I only experienced similar sportsmanship from Stoke that day. It was as if my Stokie mate Ian from Uni days who's a thoroughly decent bloke, had a word! Yet it still surprises me how good Stoke were that day, and we know very well what their support can be like!
