Without going too deep perhaps that's part of the problem. Fishing is a solitary past-time with too much time for introspection.

The opposite...placates the breath, which sorts the parasympathetic...

Which is all well and good but ultimately redundant if he cant bin everyone.

For me he needs patience and love. Not saying he deserves special care compared to others, but he is one of us after all.
He bleeds blue from birth, just like we do.

His total drop in form might be just that, a drop in form. But there might be more to it.

But we keep him, as long as he wants to be here. And we get him through this.

Too many on here ranting to get rid. Bell ends
Hope you never need a shoulder

Loads love fishing as a way to relax, to chill, therapeutic. Time to think, clear the mind.
Is it still the biggest participation sport in the uk?

But for me it would have the opposite effect. I dont do well with too much thinking time. I make small problems big

Fishing is scientifically proven to aid well being and promote mental health. Out in nature and focused on one thing (fishing). All your troubles slip away. You should try it mate. Its bloody wonderful and will help rather than hinder Phil.
Whatever the lads problems are, they aren't anything to do with fishing.

Spot on.

If he is mentally unwell then rest playing football anything might not help. I could be well of the mark? Just wish he sorts whatever it is out sooner or later..

He’s been too distracted for too long now. Fourth kid on the way age 25, going into a jewellery business with his family … then that business not doing well. It’s all too much. Plus he has had all the success in the world. This dip in form has lasted for a very long time, and what do I know, but it was bound to happen with all that distraction.

Totally agreed. Give him a 4-5 year deal, tell him we'll give him the time to get right, he can take 6-12 months off and come back after a break. He's one of ours, City born and bred, our most successful academy lad since Neil Young. Deserves all the time and grace in the world.

Is he capable of having 12 month off and flopping back on board?
