Most Overrated Player to Play for City

Wilfried Bony was a huge let down, big money target man signing all cos of a purple patch at Swansea, so much so they waved Dzeko out the door without giving him a second thought

Benjani was very underwhelming other than his derby winner, he seemed to be scoring every week at Pompey for a while then was bang average when he turned up

Same goes for Roque Santa Cruz, could barely get on the pitch when he was here

And then there’s Jo…

Strikers aside, special mention for Grealish (never ever a £100m player), foam hands Claudio Bravo and Mendy (looked a machine at Monaco that season, couldn’t defend for toffee when he turned up at City)
That’s a solid list. Cant disagree with any of them

Sterling, annoyed the sh1t out of me and yeah his goal record for us will look great but his record for missed sitters is something to behold! Spent most of his time kicking the ball at defenders legs and not looking bothered when missing literally an open net. Never put a polite hand up either to say sorry when he didn’t see an obvious pass for someone else to score, he just smiled like Marmoush does. Fuckin annoying.

Jesus, if we hadn’t signed him too early, we could have got Mbappe, Bernardo, and Mendy from Monaco at the same time. And 18-year-old Mbappe might have been polished by Pep at an early stage too.

Always thought Shay Given was a bit overrated. Yes, he was a good shot stopper but didnt command his area and seemed to stay on his line a lot. Still a decent keeper but not a great one for me although others may disagree.
This is a great shout. As an Irish man i thought he was brilliant before he joined, till i watched him week in week out and i remember a newcastle ST holder who was a relative saying similar, he was never as good as he looked on match of the day for the reasons you claim. I think for the famous Thierry Henry handball for Ireland, a top keeper just catches that ball into the box instead of being stuck on his line.

Not sure if i have misread the OP or people have but most posts are mentioning players that no city fans rate so how can they be overrated.

Alvarez is another interesting one and one that falls into the bracket here imo.

Demichelis.

Came with a big name/ reputation. I used to watch just him for a couple of 5 minute or so periods throughout games, to have a proper look at him.

There was that much wrong in his game, it was frightening.

I thought he was one of the most underrated, came old and for very cheap made some mistakes and got slaughtered early doors by the fans but by the end was abs crucial to us winning the league that year.

I dont think Daniel Van Buyten was as good as we remember but cos the rest were so shite he looked class. Mind you he eventually got a move to Bayern so maybe he was!

Definitely underrated, came here for what? 2m and was a vital part of Pellegrini's title winning side.

Edit: 4m...still one of the best bargains ever
