Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

I've said in here before but I do believe this summer we see what Viana is about, he made 11 out of 12 of the most expensive signings in Sportings history. Anderson is 23 one of the best young midfielders in the premier league stats wise he's an all rounder you pay that fee you've got him for years.

Same with Kroupi 19 years old clinical, 11 goals in the premier league already, you pay his price and you've got the best up and coming young attacker in the prem for years to come.

You think the interest in Kroupi is real mate?

Because I don't think the club would be happy to pay whatever. 120m feels like a number with a heavy heavy English tax and a heavy heavy prem proven tax etc.

I like the fit and player but feel we could use that much money over more players more effectively.

Last year the club bailed on their dream target of Wirtz because he wanted to go elsewhere and the bidding got too crazy. We ended up with Cherki. Going for the alternative doesnt have to be a bad thing
All that does is just show you that each transfer is a gamble, and that the figure is just part of the gamble.

Do you really think Liverpool were concerned about us signing Cherki for a quarter of the Wirtz fee? No, because in their head they'd got a player 4 times as good!

Fast forward a season and you'd think the transfer fees were the other way around

Sometimes you just have to pay the fee for the player you want. My guess is that City were stunned with the fee they paid for Cherki, and for every bit of luck like that, you have the flipside which is paying £120m for an Anderson

In a years time we could be sat here talking about how weve got Cherki and Anderson for £150m, both are 23 years old, and are arguably two of the best players in the league in their position

Bang on.
We must look at the whole.
We can spend £100m on one player but then we may unearth a gem like O'Reilly who is now a £60m player, sell Palmer for £40m, or bring in someone like Khusanov for £35m.
As long as the business is well-run, individual transfer fees really do not matter.

Anderson has just produced four moments of pure class in five minutes: nutmegging Rogers, then winning the ball back from Watkins, switching play to his left-back, and finally delivering a magnificent pass to MG White for the best chance of the first half.

All his strengths rolled into one. Loads of players have one, maybe two, of those strengths to their game. He has all of them.

Skill, grit, technical ability and stamina. What’s not to like.

A true number 8 to replace Gundogan.

What I like about him is his direct play and the variety of his passes—short, long, and always perfectly weighted and timed. He complements Rodri very well.

£80 million is a large sum, but he deserves it.

He made 2 errors in that first half. Two that if he played for us wouldn’t happen.

One was a pass on the edge of his own area. The player he passed it to just put his head down and ran down the channel instead of looking up and showing for the short pass. Our players won’t be doing that so it’s great he has the composure and vision to play those types of passes.

The other was a wild shot on the edge of the area. That won’t happen when Pep gets into him ha.

Anderson is a quality player does everything right! What I haven’t seen is and we won’t a team who keeps possession like us, how he would stop the transition! Rodri sees the danger majority of the time before the transition gets dangerous! Gonzales see the danger but he see it later than Rodri does. So if we get Anderson pep needs to do work with him maybe he is one of those who picks it up quickly.. so for me Anderson Fee why’s is top bracket around the Gvardiol fee that’s was £77m

Anderson has been the best player on the pitch by a mile tonight.

What really impressed me is how he tells his team mates where to go and starts the build up. His energy is also unbelievable.

Reminds me of a certain little Portuguese player….
