They're not trying to make money on it. I assume they are charging a price so that everybody that buys a ticket, actually turns up.

if it's free and half the people who take a ticket on the off chance they might go, don't bother, then they won't even pass the safety test the whole thing is designed for.

Charging a fiver but then giving the value of the entrance fee and more back in food and drink is easily the most consumer friendly way of doing it.

should be praised for it rather than slated.

I’d guess as well they’ll want to test the food and drink equipment / bars and giving it away should ensure it gets a proper test.

Tbf I'm really not sure someone forking out a fiver will 100% result in them going to the test date in Three weeks.

The incentive is clearly the beverage and food. Without that they’d likely just do a free first come, first serve event. They also know greedy fuckers will be there and will spend hard earned.

It's free to park, You can rock up grab something to eat and a pint in your seat for a fiver whilst seeing a few of the club legends get interviewed and probably a few local bands playing, there are worse ways of spending a fiver on a Wednesday night. I'm working in *spits* Trafford all day so will stop by for my tea!
