Benny Hill, yes or no

Why is EVERYTHING a binary vote?
Agree. Just let culture and artists and actors and bands and singers and comedians or anyone else just be. Nothing has to be rated one against another in lists. Anyway, didnt particularly like Benny Hill back in the day it bored me and thought it daft, but was of his time. Wouldnt like it now for sure but its dated innit

Yesterday’s comedians were funny to that generation Arthur Askey , Jimmy Edward’s,Max Wall,Tommy Cooper, Jasper Carrot, Mike Harding, Dave Allen, Benny Hill, the Comedians, and loads more would not be appreciated in today’s fucked up world and many of today’s comedians would have been booed off by that generation. Times have changed that’s all.

Different times, different humour.

I’m sure I seen him at the Golden Garter in Wythenshawe or maybe that was Tommy Cooper, who actually died live on tv.
Memory fades, such a long time ago

No.

I didn't find him funny at all, and I didn't think any comedy shows on ITV were a reet good laugh in those days either.

The Bin Men, On the Buses, Love Thy Neighbour, Man About the House, George and Mildred, Yes My Dear. They all missed the spot for me.

I was a teenager when they were being shown, and remember thinking at the time they were shit in contrast to Till Death Us Do Part, Steptoe and Son, The Two Ronnies, Fawlty Towers, Dads Army, which are still amusing and watchable today.

Teenage me - perved at the half naked women and pissed myself laughing when he slapped the baldy bloke on the head.

FOC me - can just about remember what half naked women were for and still (have to be careful) piss myself laughing at baldy blokes being slapped on the head.

As many have already said he was of his time, though Michael Caine once said in an interview that Benny Hill’s character in The Italian Job was nothing like the one that the producers had planned!

Anyone who came up with song lyrics like "I can't leave her behind alone", is solid in my book.

Somewhat reminiscent of the humour of the great and sadly missed Humphrey Lyttleton, master of the innuoendo. "Samantha and her new gentleman friend have been restoring an old chest of drawers. Samantha is in charge of polishing, while he scrapes the varnish and wax off next to her."

It was most definitely humour of its time. Looking at it through today's cynical eyes; we'll, let's just say it hasn't aged too well. Bit like some of us on here.

Yes; I do have a mirror in the house. Unfortunately!

A talented comedic genius of his craft and mais oui I border on the infantile, but if a comedian makes you grin then what's not to like. If it's not your cup o' tea then simply wobble on bye.

Here are some of my choicest clips for your kind perusals:

I loved it at the time. I was a young kid and found it hilarious. Not going to retrospectively change my opinion.
Same here. Loved watching him back in the day. Saucy, smutty, pervy, yes, but funny. No worse than those smutty postcards from the 50s & 60s really. However today’s viewers wouldn’t agree.
