Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

The midfield is crying out for a player like Anderson. Top quality.

Imagine what he could be at 28-29 years old. We have to pay whatever it takes.

A true number 8 to replace Gundogan.

What I like about him is his direct play and the variety of his passes—short, long, and always perfectly weighted and timed. He complements Rodri very well.

£80 million is a large sum, but he deserves it.
He’s the Kevin replacement. He’s literally a clone stylistically.

Apart from his passing shooting and general all around ability!

Premier league did a deep dive into Anderson and what player he's similar to it was Kevin, similar crossing technique, key passes and movement. Anderson idolised Kevin, in a press conference he said he trys to copy everything Kev did. His crossing technique is identical. Is he going to be Kevin no, but his ability is similar.

Must be joining us in the summer then.
Not seen the tackle on Tv but my first impression it seemed hard but fair and no where for his foot to go after winning the ball. If it was bad no mention of Watkins challenge on him shortly after which in my thoughts was worse as he knew exactly what he was doing.

The few times I've seen him this season I haven't been overly impressed, but last nihht comoletely changed my mind as he was superb. Although £100m+ is a hell of a lot of money, it will be money well spent.

Bang on.
We must look at the whole.
We can spend £100m on one player but then we may unearth a gem like O'Reilly who is now a £60m player, sell Palmer for £40m, or bring in someone like Khusanov for £35m.
As long as the business is well-run, individual transfer fees really do not matter.
O'Reilly is a £150m player!!

If he had won the ball with his foot I'd agree, but he didn't his foot goes over the ball and then the calf gets the top off the ball and he connects with the players shin studs up. They'd certainly not have overuled it if was given as a red on field

Yeah didn't look great. Tbf I kind of think those can be a bit unlucky and a yellow may be the right call, but you know that in the PL they'd have watched it 15 times and then sent him off. Needs to be a little more careful.

He got lucky there. In the PL, he could well have been sent off for that.

Reading people's opinions on it seems Anderson may have been lucky but much prefer it that the initial decision was not over ruled. Also I don't think var should have got involved in the penalty the assistant called it out and decision over turned. These sort of decisions seem to undermine the on field officials and you end up with players playing for decisions which maybe they don't deserve. Emery outburst over the tackle is like prime Fergie and he will be looking for officials to even it up next week I'm fearing a card or a penalty being awarded early to Villa next Thursday.
