A disgraceful undermining of the Ticket Points system - again

It’s utterly mental that someone who hasn’t been to a game all season, doesn’t have a season ticket, pays a few quid to join a supporters club and then gets first dabs at a cup final ticket ahead of the vast majority of people who are on the cup scheme.
To be honest can't see many UK branches where you could rock up pay a few quid not be seen again until 2 weeks before cup final and get a ticket for the final, you have to have a club membership as well minimum. Not saying it doesn't happen but I'll bet more people will attend on someone else's ticket.

Because the main issue pissing people off is easy access to cheap tickets taking them away from people who deserve them. Despite those other groups also being wrong they weren't logging on this morning before anyone else and taking all the 50 quid tickets
How do you know what tickets were ring fenced for the group's I'm asking about .
You can bet your bottom dollar that their will be a tickets in every price range in those 5800 tickets, where bar the corporate, 99% will end up in the hands of people without a point to their names but plenty of money in their pockets.
It is a disgrace that the best part of 14000 tickets are being sold outside of the loyalty scheme .
But I will also caveat that, with as supporters we only have are selves to blame for letting it happen over the year's.

I’ve said time and time again the loyalty points system is dead and ridiculously unfair now. It needs binning or they need to reward better fans that attend games, especially at home. Away games are a closed shop to most ST holders now and everyone needs a fair crack. I’d sooner queue around the main stand than this current system

The points scheme should have carried on as it did (minus the platinum and gold bullshit) with points awarded for all away games.
Lots didn't agree with how many people were buying away tickets just for the points & then selling them on. All this new stuff is rubbish but i do agree with stopping people just collecting the points.

First come first choice sorted a massive fucking free for all, no loyalty anymore just like your bills for energy, mobile phones, car insurance, broadband, sky, all ripping us off.

As you say…if. Seems a remarkable coincidence that given it was a free for all, and the OSC has approx 20000 members, the sum total of requests from 400 branches acting independently was miraculously less than 5600 (20%).
Whatever the arithmetic, the fact remains that people with many years of loyalty following the club everywhere and committing to season tickets have far less choice/chance of tickets than for the previous 4 finals, whereas it seems anyone in the OSC could got first dibs, irrespective of any prior attendance. Which is wrong.
Just out of interest how much does it cost to join the OSC? Wouldn’t we all be better joining just for finals, rather than bother with the cost and inconvenience of cup schemes, platinum and attending games?

You could if they would accept you, I was pissing about on the interactive City website showing all the branches around the world, I mistakenly asked to join the Lincoln branch I thought nothing of it but one month later my request was turned down, no reasoning nothing, at that point I thought to myself they are not interested in extra members but keeping a cosy closed shop for tickets as it was only a very small group, others should try it to see how they get on

Why does the club keep getting the kind of stuff wrong. The lack of transparency for selling tickets drives me mad. If the club believes that some people need first dibs on tickets because they are rich or because they are in a Supporters club they are wrong.

The lotalty point system died when they introduced platinum season tickets and let people buy points. Those who had supported city through the bad times were suddenly caught up by the plastic new-comers. Money talks and its the most important thing to the club.

The thing is there is some who work well and don't even abuse the system. But the majority do and would take take and fuckin take. It needs gutting from the top downwards and a new sort of system put in place. Starting with the charlatan who's in charge

The newcomers were so far behind in 2011 they were not catching anyone.

There was a 13 year start and those who actually went to aways all bought platinum and no one caught anyone.

It was the price of one away ticket, so those spending £5k a season on aways weren't put off by £50. The big blues who never went away used it as an excuse for having no points, but the damage was done before that.

i would agree with that, my sympathy has always been the ones who are victims of their age not support, the fact is anyone could have done aways when loyalty points were truly earnt as tickets were anywhere from 35 quid to 64 quid and City often took reduced allocations and places like Bolton and Wigan saw very small away followings considering the distance. It's not beyond the wit of man to introduce a rolling system as the present method is flawed, what happens to 18-25 year olds when they become 26 they fall off a cliff. It will never be perfect but it could be so so much better.

Im in a supporters club and benefitted yesterday by being able to buy tickets earlier (although I bought a 125 pound ticket to be close to friends).

I don’t understand the clubs policy for finals though. All away matches the allocation is either 1 or 2 tickets but then for finals it seems all ticket requests get accepted. I’m not sure why they can’t release them in stages to supporters clubs based on attendance etc.

Previously, from my own experience, the tickets were all
allocated together and you would end up with no choice and be located all together up in level 5 often near the dividing line near the away fans.

It was not ideal but, not being able to be close to mates or have a pick of tickets but I fully understood it and think it’s was a fairer way.

Not a defence of supporters clubs but they do have value when shifting tickets for less popular matches. Such as the Southampton match. Plenty went from our supporters clubs, who were no regulars, and helped fill up the gaps when many season tickets holders never bothered.

Blimey you've had a season ticket since 1977 and haven't managed 10k points
I'm in the same boat. Season ticket since Maine Rd. Just under 10k points.
I dont have the time or the money to go to loads of away games. Dont farm points by doing platinum either.

The platinum deal screwed the points system for supporters like us.

Joined an OSC a few years back. Mainly for minibuses and coaches. But it does have other perks.
Like 2 Wembley tickets on row 2, block 134 for me and my lad. :-)
