A disgraceful undermining of the Ticket Points system - again

Which is a problem in itself but this time they also had a priority window ahead of cup scheme on 15 - 20k points to select any seat they wanted.

It makes a mockery of our ticket point system, paying £50 extra a season for platinum for what?!

Going to Brentford at home in the carabao cup with 4 rows to myself on a wednesday night in December for what?!
“Going to Brentford at home in the carabao cup with 4 rows to myself on a wednesday night in December for what?!”

A fucking great night! Watching the boys, bevvying with your pals is the best thing in the world.

But realistically how many tickets are we talking about here?
Many OSC members will be eligible to purchase tickets early on, yet the picture being given in this thread is all of the OSC tickets are going to folk who have been to 3 games or less all season
Doesn’t matter if it’s one or one thousand. It’s wrong.

The main issue is the price of tickets.

The fact that there’s a scramble for ‘cheap’ £80 tickets is ludicrous. It’s not as much of a problem for London based fans/fans who infrequently visit Wembley, but for city fans we also have a significant travel expenditure on top of those prices.

I don’t agree with the OSC members getting early access, but you do have to consider the OSCs organise 90%+ of the coaches that go down and ensuring their members can get tickets means making coaches available to the wider fanbase becomes more viable.

Prior to 2012, I could get tickets for all away games bar Old Trafford, despite only having middling points (say 8k when 12/13k was the top level of points). And prior to the takeover we'd often only take half the tickets, as we didn't think we could sell the other half.

The problem has been success, with demand far exceeding supply. That affects whatever system you put in place. The other problem is the ridiculous pricing of Wembley tickets, and that leads to issues around OSC members getting cheaper tickets, without necessarily having the points, while those who do have the points and don't go through an OSC may have to pay top whack. The family members I would normally go with have paid £125 for their tickets, plus trains and food and drink, and I refuse to do that, so I'll be watching on TV at home.

I don't have a fundamental issue with OSCs getting tickets but on special occasions like an FA Cup final, then points should take priority. OSC members who don't have the points should only get access to tickets once a certain criteria has been reached.
The supply being reduced was the big problem, it had been gradual but for one game in 2014/15 they raised the bar by almost 2000 points and a lot of people on mid-points who were just getting some of the bigger games missed out. They then kept the bar high.

Then for Bournemouth away came along and it was obvious only around 1/3rd were going to points same as OT.

The problem is the club not the OSC or 1894 group

Stated many years ago that the ticket system was unfair.

I pay for 4 ST so wife and kids can go as well as me and can only afford Gold not platinum

My brother buys one ticket and gets platinum so gets double points but has not followed City as long as me and more points

I queued for 14 hours for Gillingham ticket just two weeks after my first born was born as I was desperate to go

Now I wait until the FA send City spare tickets which work out cheaper than when I could qualify for a ticket, sometimes works out some I miss out

My feelings now are if you are on the cup scheme you should get first offer of tickets and depending points you have and this should include OSC members

I don’t and won’t sign up to cup schemes and won’t pay platinum as it is just a way of buying loyalty but I won’t have a go at fellow blues as it’s not them who the problem is with
The problem isn’t the club. The problem is taking the missus. What the fucking hell were you thinking?

Phil that’s apathetic bollocks. If it’s wrong it needs calling out, regardless of how long we’ve known something. OSC getting 20% is fine ONLY if that then goes to members with the requisite points. And it doesn’t. And that’s wrong.
See my other post on how to resolve the OSC issue. Members need to challenge the committee at an AGM to change the rules. It is in members hands nothing to do with the club. OSC members can change it.

Excellent letter. Good luck thinking you’ll get a reply though.
You may be right but it is still important to ask the question. That said, upon launch, we contacted the Club to set out the purpose of the Trust. The Club have replied and we’re looking to schedule in an introduction discussion.

Yes but the tickets are still ring fenced off for the 1894 group, so say someone who wasn’t aware of the 1894 section with 16k points who wanted a category 3 ticket for £80 went on to buy at 1pm yesterday but all the tickets in that section were sold out. Yet say someone who signed up to the 1894 section with 8k points and are able to purchase theirs on Tuesday at 10am, if there’s tickets left in that section they’ve essentially reaped a benefit of being part of 1894 than someone with far less points. I think that’s what @cityutopia is saying

it goes season ticket cup scheme then season ticket non cup scheme then if any tickets left match day members and you have to apply when it’s your window only same as everywhere else.

We had 500+ people apply for our block we don’t get all the tickets we want, immediately 270 minimum miss out.

The people will be fans who have been involved with 1894 so we know them, either helped out making or putting out displays or who have been in singing blocks before we have no unknowns and we think behaviour might be ok. We didn’t advertise for this game. The club get a list of the people on points. They are happy to see a display and a good atmosphere which is basically why we get the offer of organising a singing section.

Someone wouldn’t just go “oh I know I’ve got 16k points I want to jump in with 1894 even though I’ve had no previous contact with them” they would be people we already know because they are motivated by the atmosphere and by helping out.

You’re either arsed about the atmosphere or you are not.

Watford fa cup final we didn’t do a display but we took seats for singing at the back of the lower tier. These were dearer than the front. Atmosphere and displays are our only motivation.

If you are doing a scorecard for OSCs then you need to take into account building our supporter base, that is the main responsibility of Branches / OSC. I can understand that gets missed in the run up to high profile games.
Complete non sequitur.

Have ten fingers.
We’ve added about 200 Blues since our Branch has opened. 30 odd thousand OSC members. Some already established Blues of course.

That said, it would to my benefit if more tickets went to points lol. I would already make the big games consistently if the integrity of the points system really existed.

I just like to see a bit of balance so I will mention the 50k the OSC distributed to the Manchester community last year.

If you don't agree you probably won't join or get kicked out.

The rules are different for them all it seems. One decided this season that when a high demand away came along "they should give a chance to those who haven't got an away this season so far" even though there wasn't demand for half the aways, and someone going to the low demand aways is rules out for the high ones for people who haven't gone to a match.

Great. And completely irrelevant to the issue being discussed.

I really struggled with the cup schemes this year as I’m currently out of work, I made certain sacrifices so my two sons didn’t miss out, this has really annoyed me and isn’t fair at all

Kevin represents the OSC on City Matters and there's no sensible system that doesn't include that representation. The reps agreed amongst themselves. and asked City for the OSC rep to be co-opted, rather than elected, in the same way the 1894 rep is.

'All' City Matters Reps should be elected by the wider fan base.
