Pep to leave at the end of the season

When he went to watch port vale vs Stockport when a big champions league game was on that was when I thought yep he is off! Why? He either promised someone he would go to watch them or like I’ve posted the other day a bucket least of watching a live lower league game as a fan..

Regarding Maresca not my choice but I’ll be backing him if becomes our manager and if he can get out team playing like when Chelsea played psg in the club World Cup we should be ok.
The Stockport County owner also owns the building Pep lives in, very much felt like a "before you go i'll take you to a match"

yes and no I wanted him out or to change over the last few weeks he’s seemed to change. And it’s not about wanting him out it’s about who’s coming in. Pep been unbelievable for us to bring a no mak in like Mescrea will take some bullshitting from Khaldoon

This thinking is like we are some tin pot set outfit! Look I don’t want him but you see why it makes sense after Pep especially if the likes of Enrique Kompany not ready to come yet or maybe don’t ever want to come! There is more pluses if you look at it with a bit of sense.. now you look at it and name the positives of why we would appoint Maresca!?

City Xtra publishing some bullshit clickbait bollocks, when you actually look at their article it’s entirety sourced from an Arsenal Twitter account hahaha

Even if Pep does leave in the summer those aggregator social media parasites know fuck all.

If I had to put money on it I’d bet even Pep doesn’t know what he’s doing yet.

I agree with you. I’m guessing hoping Kompany and Enrique would love to come but not straight after pep and mascara is just the in between/fall guy

So, we are now an amateur club, treading water. As though we would. If Pep is leaving (gutted), I hope Maresca activates a lot of (humble pie) bookmarks.

Dont have a clue if he wants or is ready for a job with a club but Scaloni showed very good stuff with a rather average squad bar Messi

‘If’ he’s decided to go it’ll be an almighty pisser, even more so if we don’t win the league.
Win a treble and I’ll understand it with him going out on a high.
‘If’ he leaves having only won the league cup that’ll be slightly irritating.
Won’t affect how fondly I’ll remember him though.
He’s given us far more than we could’ve ever have dreamed of and then some.
Whoever we get it’ll be a comedown.
This will more than likely be the greatest manager in our existence.

I’m hoping that IF we don’t get 3 points Monday he focuses on the cup final. Don’t go after the impossible. It would still be a fitting finale, given the rebuild. He is now our greatest manager ever, but refuse to believe we can’t maintain it. Maybe not trebles, but still competing and winning trophies. Our owners are winners!

No idea who the club and probably pep have chosen to replace the irreplaceable. The names don’t matter. Everyone will have their own preference. It’s boring but just like a player we won’t know until that person arrives and is in the dugout.

The club will have thought long and hard about the decision. Pep staying is a daily topic. Everything started to click and maybe it’s because pep has informed everyone he is leaving. It would be released by now and it’s too big a story to not have leaks as we have already seen.

Treble and 115 gone. It wouldn’t get much better than that. I would have loved to have seen pep front the media after the result but as long as we are cleared it don’t matter.

I can see the appeal of Enzo. He is not an unknown to the city group. Taking a chance on an unknown person after pep is probably not the safest business approach. The club will need time to adjust.

So maybe a safe pair of hands is better than the alternatives. Vinny will be along in a few years anyway or maybe pep comes back.

I love Pep and hope he stays forever, however he wouldn’t be our biggest loss. The man we would miss the most is Khaldoon

Of course he’s a no mark he’s done fuck all to have any credit to be taken over a top European club
He managed to get the squad with the worst attitude and egos in the country playing for him, so much so that those players then downed tools because they didn’t want him to go. As each day passes it looks like the job he did at Chelsea was a miracle. The noise leaked out of Chelsea was that the players were angry that a top manager was replaced by someone without his talent, so even those Chelsea players rated him and wanted to play for him.

He played exceptional football at Leicester to get them promoted and he’s been with us before, as an understudy to Pep.

I don’t know if he’ll work out, I can’t imagine he’ll equal or get anywhere near Pep’s achievements but if we’re still a Champions League club, challenging for the biggest prizes and winning the odd trophy, that’ll do me.

He’ll get my full support and I’ll try and be patient, that’s for sure. I’d advise you to do the same and give someone a chance.

Using your requirements, Pep would never have been given the Barca job and the world would have seen Mourinho limit Messi.

That being said, Mourinho should never have got the Porto job as he was a no mark before that too.

Chaps we support the club , it’s look likely he is getting the job , can we all just get behind him ,slag him off if he gets the job and fails but come on the management team have given us stuff that dreams where made …

We are Manchester City FC, not manager FC.

I wouldn't say I was excited about the prospect of Maresca replacing Pep, but I think he'll do alright here. And by "alright" that will be somewhere between the Mancini and Pellegrini eras, which means a lot of posters on this forum are going to have to put on their big boy pants and accept that we might be looking at "only" one league title in the three years of his contract, maybe a cup to add to that, and maybe an underwhelming performance in the Champions League in that time.

With Mancini we managed:
09/10: 5th, League Cup semi-final
10/11: 3rd, FA Cup winners
11/12: 1st, League Cup semi-final (out in the CL groups)
12/13: 2nd, FA Cup finalists (out in the CL groups)

With Pellegrini we managed:
13/14: 1st, League Cup winners (out in the CL last 16)
14/15: 2nd, nowhere near the cups (out in the CL last 16)
15/16, 4th, League Cup winners (out in the CL SFs)

So under Maresca something like:
26/27: 3rd, League Cup winners (out in the CL QFs)
27/28: 1st, FA Cup semi-finalists (out in the CL SFs)
28/29: 4th, FA Cup finalists (out in the CL QFs)

I'd consider something like that (just above) from Maresca to be a very good effort and a worthy example of, like Pellegrini did, how to keep the chair warm for the next guy. Maresca will come in knowing he's just part of a long-term succession plan, kind of how Pellegrini gradually accepted that was his role was to prepare us for Pep, and that him being City's manager should be viewed as a mutually beneficial arrangement - an economical transactional thing.

If Maresca wins a league title and a cup with City in three years that'll be enough to get him basically any job he wants after us, and we'll be getting someone considered a decent-but-not-brilliant manager who's not gonna be under as much pressure to follow on from Pep. If Kompany came in this summer, immediately following Pep, being seen as this symbolic, dramatic passing of the torch, that could be the undoing of him here. Whereas Maresca, decent as he is - he's just a suit with a good tactical brain. Not generational, not bad either.

I think that's what Liverpool are doing with Slot, to be honest. They know, and Slot knows, Klopp was an impossible guy to follow. Getting Xabi Alonso in straight away might have wrecked things if he didn't live up to Klopp straight away. Now Alonso is likely to replace Slot, which turns the appointment into an upgrade while removing the pressure of coming immediately after a beloved manager. Slot's another suit with a good tactical brain. Not generational, not bad either.

After Maresca, it should then be Vinny time.
