All things Jack Grealish

He clearly has a drinking problem. I find it astonishing that anyone would dispute that, but then this country has a fucked up perspective on alcohol.

No sportsman at that level, in 2026, injured or not, should be passing out in a bar, given how much clubs, and fans, invest in them. Yes, it's a life that requires a lot of sacrifice, but there are plenty of folk lining up to take your place if you choose to piss your chances away.

And although he's a lovely lad and a great talent, he's also clearly a bit simple, or else his judgement or sense of perspective have just completely gone - a) it's not rocket science to know your reputation will take a hit if you pass out in a bar mid-afternoon b) what kind of people is he mates with? c) does he really think his employer has no views on this?

He's an alcoholic. He'll either sort his life out or kill himself. I hope it's the former. Good luck to him because he seems like a lovely lad, but any hopes I have for him are as a human being, and for his family, not as a city player, because that ship has long sailed.

You mean it's a lookalike who's gone to the extent of wearing a lookalike £160,000+ Patek Philippe Nautilus watch? Yes, absolutely crazy.
Why not? Look at the crap Trump is generating of himself using AI. First, it was Jesus, next he is in a swimming pool.

Even more reason not to drink, it slows recovery down and does more harm when injured than fit.
Was just replying to the comment about affecting his day job. Im unaware of how much he drinks, how often or how it affects his job.

Neither does anyone else despite their best efforts to convince me otherwise.

There’s no great deal of evidence to suggest he’s an alcoholic. He might just have a bit of an issue with binge drinking when he’s off work.

When he’s playing he might be a total professional, we don’t really know how often he drinks, most of the images of him drunk are close season or when he’s out long term injured.

The evidence is there. The way his career has gone despite being at a club that does its upmost to help their players in any way they can. If he can’t help himself despite that support, then it goes beyond the lad likes a drink. Let’s have it, it points to a serious addiction. Truly hope I’m very wide of the mark.

It seems something has impacted his career at City. I wonder what?

It's a bit of an open secret that the reason the club were desperate for him to be gone last summer was the levels of unprofessionalism he had shown in the previous 12 months. This included turning up in terrible states to training, being a terrible example for the younger players around the CFA. Just generally being a bit of a dickhead, albeit a lovable one. Ultimately City is a place of work, not a country club where you go to have a good time.

Mind boggling some of the nonsense on this thread - the AI deep fake conspiracy theory winning the award for most ridiculous post of the year!

No idea why anybody would try to defend him. He’s paid £15m a year and the only thing he needed to avoid is to be caught pissed up in public yet again. He can’t help himself.

If anybody is unsure read Laporte’s interview this weekend where he explains how well City look after players. Yet he still managed to fuck everything up at City - and has again whilst on loan at Everton.

He’s not a young man. He’s 31 in 4 months and probably only has a year or two left on his career as he will find out piss heads don’t have a long career into their mid 30s.

We won’t be able to give him away in the Summer. A £100m that we can’t give an away for nothing.

Loveable rogue but has tossed off his career.

He needs to be fit to do his day job and drinking isn't helping his recovery.

The excuse he was injured that you made was ridiculous. I had no idea how much George Best drank, and neither do you, but I assume it was why he went massively down hill at 27 and died young. Knowing the exact quantity isn't the issue is it?

I think the gulf between what we know and what we speculate is pretty wide here. Such is the reality of a forum, but does anyone actually know anything?

We know he enjoys a drink, but we have no idea if he’s an alcoholic.

We know the media loves a Jack story, especially an embarrassing one, but we have no idea what happens before or after those pictures.

We have no idea if he reached his potential or if he’s satisfied with his career, but we know he’s more successful than 99% of us.

We know the club is well regarded by former players, but we have no idea how well they deal with non-traditional medical “problems” if players do have them.

We have no idea how hard he works, but we do know he’s an advocate for and well loved by many fans who aren’t often represented elsewhere.

Anyway, I hope he’s well and gets help if he needs it and has a life that he’s happy with, even if it’s not what we would choose.

Its not ridiculous he's injured and looks like he is on holiday, knowing the exact quantity isnt the issue? erm... a doctor and addict counsellor may disagree. You haven't seen footballers in Marbella on their holidays? You know how much everyone drinks at home?
It seems mad as stated on here every fucker in the world knows he is Oliver Reed especially the football community but Everton took him on loan.

I dont know how much he drinks and how often, neither do you. People should just leave the lad alone. He's not even playing for us.

"A £100m that we can’t give an away for nothing." Thanks to amortisation he's only around £17mill on our books this summer, although we could struggle getting that back given his current trajectory.

If that were the case he would still be at City.

City pay his wages (as with all players loaned out), if the drinking causes him to come back a month later it costs the club over £1m.

As said it makes it even worse than he is injured as he is delaying his recovery. He isn't playing for Everton again in the loan period so Moyes isn't really invested is he?

Everton are still paying whatever their contribution to his wages are.
