Firstly i know I'm going a little early on this so bear with me!

In English football we hear how the Arsenal invincibles are the greatest team ever for going a season unbeaten.
26 wins 12 draws 0 defeats, fantastic, great achievement! 90 points. A full season unbeaten. But how good was it? The Centurions City team of 2018 lost 2 game and still surpassed the invincibles by 10 points! Points win titles not going undefeated, yet the invincibles are lauded far more than any team, and the Centurions seem to be largely forgotten outside our fanbase?

Now is going invincible a better achievement than 100 points? Well I reckon Porto and Benfica fans might be able to answer this once and for all?

Porto have just won the Portuguese league this weekend with 2 games to spare, they lost 1 game all year, but Benfica are currently undefeated and supposedly invincible albeit with 2 games to go and 9 points back. So if proof was needed that points trump going undefeated / invincible the Portuguese league in 25/26 proves it and proves that points beats being undefeated! And for me proves the Centurions are the greatest Premier league team ever.

Disclaimer I've gone early that Benfica stay undefeated / invincibles, but the fact thay Porto already have the league won whilst Benfica are invincible to date and can still add 6 points adds to the fact that points always trump undefeated records in the league.

Disclaimer 2, it could just be me that gets annoyed by the lack of respect for the Centurions and over celebration of the Arsenal invincibles?

Nobody gives a fuck about boring arsenal, and we only got 100 points because of financial doping. For me the most impressive side of recent times has to be Liverpool who would've won the PL at our expense if only shots from outside the box counted.

Whenever anyone even dares to compare the two to me I just reply with “90 points or 100 points which is better over the course of 38 games?”
You'd think that would be the obvious answer? But even with neutrals it doesn't seem to be a good enough reason. I think having a live example of a team being invincible and not winning the league proves that it isnt the achievement it's made out to be.

Gold trophy my arse.

I agree, Liverpool, let’s not forget, would have also won the double in that scenario as they also lifted the Net Spend Trophy that season too

Let's be honest, it was an absolute travesty Klopps team didn't win more leagues under him considering nearly all his squad were suffering from asthma......

As a Gooner I can tell you the invincibles were shit and Henry was overrated, and the Centurions were just a chequebook side and most of that squad wouldn't get near the starting XI of today's Top 4.

The greatest achievement ever was the Rags winning titles under the Govan Piss Can despite all the referees being against them and constantly being unfairly treated by the media. That was real struggle against overwhelming odds and today I still respect the way those Rags teams treated opposition sides with fairness and grace.

Every manager in the world at every level starts the season telling their team to try and get as many points as possible.
Nobody starts a season with the aim of going unbeaten.
City set out to win every game, whereas, certainly in the final 25% of the season, Arsenal set out not to get beat. They drew 5 of the last nine

Edit….
Arsenal’s 90 points has been bettered twelve times, with one of those not being enough that season to win the league
It’s also been equalled on one occasion, so 90 points is joint 13th out of 34 premier league seasons
