Invincibles v Centurions?

Firstly i know I'm going a little early on this so bear with me!

In English football we hear how the Arsenal invincibles are the greatest team ever for going a season unbeaten.
26 wins 12 draws 0 defeats, fantastic, great achievement! 90 points. A full season unbeaten. But how good was it? The Centurions City team of 2018 lost 2 game and still surpassed the invincibles by 10 points! Points win titles not going undefeated, yet the invincibles are lauded far more than any team, and the Centurions seem to be largely forgotten outside our fanbase?

Now is going invincible a better achievement than 100 points? Well I reckon Porto and Benfica fans might be able to answer this once and for all?

Porto have just won the Portuguese league this weekend with 2 games to spare, they lost 1 game all year, but Benfica are currently undefeated and supposedly invincible albeit with 2 games to go and 9 points back. So if proof was needed that points trump going undefeated / invincible the Portuguese league in 25/26 proves it and proves that points beats being undefeated! And for me proves the Centurions are the greatest Premier league team ever.

Disclaimer I've gone early that Benfica stay undefeated / invincibles, but the fact thay Porto already have the league won whilst Benfica are invincible to date and can still add 6 points adds to the fact that points always trump undefeated records in the league.

Disclaimer 2, it could just be me that gets annoyed by the lack of respect for the Centurions and over celebration of the Arsenal invincibles?
You can't fail to win almost a third of your games and be classed as the best ever. In a season if you are the best team then a draw or defeat is dropping points. You're not gaining a point with a draw you are dropping two.

Benfica went invincible and finished 3rd this season.

Like Arsenal, it just means you drew a lot of games, its telling that the Arsenal team didn't get the winning games record like we did.

Because that's what football is about, winning games, not about not losing them.
This is the bbc article about it, to send to any gunners spouting nonsense about invincible season being better than centurions.

Lego head disagrees.

I think going unbeaten is a totally arbitrary measure, you can be pretty sub-par and go unbeaten for long periods. Our longest unbeaten run in all competitions is 35 games which is not much different to 38 games and that was during our 4-peat season in 2024. Is anybody here going to argue that team in late 2024 was anywhere close to our best team of the last ten years?

No, the treble winners, the domestic treble winners and the centurions were all clearly better teams by pretty much every measure. As was proven the very next season when we dropped off a cliff.

I think going unbeaten will be done at some point. Several teams, including us, have come close and gone deep into the season unbeaten. The 100 points record on the other hand is usually safe by about January.

It was great when Anelka scored a penalty to beat Chelsea in 2004/2005 but, looking back, I wish he'd hit it wide as then Chelsea would have been "invincible" with 97 points and this Arsenal bleating would have ceased then.
I guess we would have just been swapping one set of annoying cockneys for another.

I would say your centurions 1st Liverpool Klopp side with 99 pts in covid season 2nd best as it is an outstanding pts total Chelsea 2004/05 3rd as new manager in a new league and 95 pts is impressive then Arsenal invincibles.

That Chelsea side was better than the invincibles but so were quite a few others including (feels dirty saying this) some rag teams.

Don’t forget our 98 points team of 2018-19 who won all four domestic trophies that season.
