Sorry, but still no, because they can do exactly the same! In other words, your above 'explanation' still has to take into account their results.

On the morning of the 'Aguerooooo!' match, although we were hot favourites, it was not mathematically in our hands. Had -United won 10-0 they would have been champions.

'In our hands' would mean that our results alone could make us Champions, even if they win all theirs 50-0, and vice-versa. If we don't win tonight, that puts it in their hands.

How can anybody not know this? Hopefully they'll lose soon and this'll be academic (which frankly it is, anyway).

That’s a big issue. Nico G is a good player but only Rodri can do Rodri’s job to the high level needed for the team to function at its peak. Need to put away those early chances if he is unavailable. Otherwise getting bogged down between defence and midfield will be a problem if Everton press.
