Pep to leave at the end of the season

I'm still absolutely firmly of the opinion that he isn't going. If I'm wrong so be it, but I've had people in the club laughing at me for listening to press pack tittle tattle. And I keep coming back to the simple fact that it would be the biggest news story of the season and maybe the biggest in the league since Haaland arrived or Klopp left. If anyone had it well enough sourced to write it, they'd just write it. Their 'feelings' about Pep leaving have been around since 2020.

Nobody knows, including you, let it play out.

I believe he is staying at least until the end of next season. Why would they drop so much money on players if he was going to leave. It wouldn't make sense as they are Pep players amd someone coming g in would want to change bits around

We all know it’s not boards, or clubs owners that gets a manager sacked. It’s fans. Vinnie wound get time, not sure a Maresca type would if results go badly. However, we trust the process.

Considering Guardiola, the greatest manager of all time, needed ONE bad season last season to have so many dickheads on this forum calling him all sorts and saying he needed to go and was past it etc. I don't think there's any chance of any manager ever getting 'time' if results aren't perfect. Entitlement sadly has become a very obvious trait in quite a few.

I think Vinnie would. Entitlement = lack of ambition.

I agree although I would caveat it by saying that the recruitment isn't so rigid that the players can only be used in one system. The core philosophy of positional play and a possession based game with a high defensive line will remain at the club forever. But there'll be nuances within that and styles that other coaches will bring.

As if. Like I said, if Pep's face doesn't fit for some, then there's little chance anyone's will if the results aren't perfect.

As for ambition, yeah yeah. I've heard loads of the Guardiola out dickheads use that phrase to mask their own stupidity. Guardiola is the man who set the standards and wasn't afforded one down season without the knives coming out.

I think the next manager is not going to have easy for sure. After Pep what do you do? Bring in a manager who the fans adore, who will be given time like a certain manager in north London. Alternately you bring in a manager who will be given very little time.

The next manager will have the same top quality squad that Pep's got. Time isn't something that top clubs afford anyone. Like Pep has said many times he's lasted ten years because he won a lot. Disaffection around winter of 2025 showed that even a year of less than perfect results and no title was enough for some people to want change. It's simply not realistic to expect that anyone's getting loads of time. There's no rebuilding job to be done. There's no real transition to be had. Next man has to win, or he'll be toast whether it's Vinny or Maresca or some other fella.

Agreed. However most fans would give Vinnie more time than Maresca, only natural.

Maresca if he becomes our manager he will believe he is good enough he will believe he contributed a lot with the treble he believed in himself that much he told Chelsea the player a he needed to compete to win! He is Italian he will be totally different a manager to pep in the way he treats the media the players..

Apparently some people do know. That's the reason this thread has blown up. Maybe they should expand a bit what they have been told.

I have zero insider info but from what I see and hear from Pep it looks like he is at least going to stay for his current contract.

It’s tough at the top as the saying goes.
Pep has turned us around in the space of one season.
I think even he would have gone if he hadn’t.
No man is going to last in any top job if you don’t produce the goods.
So if it is Maresca next, then he will get a season at least, and if it’s not good enough, then he will be gone.
I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s the modern way.

Somebody definitely knows mate. No way we are leaving it this late in the day without knowing. He’s either told us he’s staying or he’s calling it a day. Whatever he’s chosen, we will have been told already.

Pep will go when he’s ready, I’d like to see him extend for an extra year after next year, just to piss em all off PL, UEFA, cartel etc.
The last Italian we had did alright though,
6-1 anybody.

For anyone interested. Ive just had a reply from a season ticket Chelsea fan (I sort of know him but not well) who ive made it my business to contact to ask his opinion on Maresca as im worried. His reply.

An Absolutley Excellent Appointment
Will slot in effortlessly, players love him, will have his questionable line ups and will play very defensively, some times will be boring but will win trophies for certain with your club. Id have him back as Chelsea manager in the morning.

That eases me a little

Pep won’t be leaving until he sees his contract out end of next season.
Listen to the press conference post match.

hope this is bullshit. after Pep we need top options like Enrique or Flick or maybe Kompany but even that is a stretch.

Maresca never managed in CL yet. he won Conference yes but vs likes of Rapif Wien and Djurgarden in KO rounds ffs while playing the bench...

wonder how Sterling rates him after he put him into the bomb squad and few others...
