Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I explained it. Arsenal needed to win at West Ham and they still fucking do, do they not?
But you said NOTHING HAS CHANGED!?!

Funny how all the bookies and all the exchanges (and all the adults) disagree with you.

I'll put it another way then - so you only have to count to 6, not 9 - if Arsenal draw with West Ham, it won't now be in our hands. Had we won tonight, it could have been, were we to beat Brentford.

And you call me a tit? Jeez, it's hardly quantum physics.

If he doesn’t make a mistake you’d be gutted to make at 5 a side tonight, we don’t collapse.

These things don’t happen in a vacuum.

Guehi cost us the title. He’s been good, true.

But tonight with his failure to complete a 6 yard pass to the keeper, he cost us the title.
Miserable.

Disappointing, but showed some balls to come back. Far from over yet.

For those digging out our fantastic away support for having the temerity to leave at 3-1 down with 9 mins to go. Come on, I bet there were plenty at home who turned off in disgust and plenty who headed for the door at the pub. Frustration and disappointment does funny things to people.

Banning them from tickets and advising fellow Blues to fuck off? Deary me.

The people leaving at 3-1 are as far away from being fantastic away supporters as is possible - no excuse whatsoever

Good point in the circumstances but probably curtains in terms of the title race. You just can’t make mistakes like the one Guehi did, he’s been good for us but that one moment will likely cost us for this season. The way we lost control after needs to be studied aswell we looked completely shell shocked.

It’s been one of those seasons and ultimately it has always felt like a step too far for the league this season but it’s the hope that kills you. We must make Arsenal win it now but not dropping anymore points and an FA Cup win with the league cup gives us great momentum for a push at the league and in Europe next year!

Apparently the linesman put his flag up instantly, so if Guehi does nothing then it’s offside. But then Guehi obviously feels the need to do something because the guy is there and he’s not seen the flag.

Regardless, it was a shit pass from Guehi. Genuinely appalling.

The fact the player was still closing players down for me means it’s offside. A flaw in the rules. Another grey area.

Always us isn’t it these grey areas? Rags in 2023 now tonight.
And how can Guehi have seen the linesman? He's likely got his back to him. So if that's the case, if Guehi sees the flag and does nothing that's fine, but because he doesn't he carries on playing. That's bollocks.

It really is hard to fathom the difference Rodri makes. We all know it, but still some times I think, hes not fast, he hasn't got a great 'engine', he doesn't split defences like Kevin or David etc etc but what a fukcin player. How does he do it ?, We are like a PC without a CPU when he's out.We just look ragged, chaotic and all over the frickin shop without him. This is especially the case when we play with two wingers, those two midfielders are critical, even against a dog n duck Everton, FFS. I'm not that big a fan of Anderson but hopefully he will come in and make the difference we need. Nico OR and Nico G both looked way off tonight....
And with dodgy RAM

he was at fault for their 3rd goal- stay on his feet and get between man and ball and the move was over
Spot on he was running treacle and a player of his experience should have stopped him at all costs

Phil looks ill to me looks like he has lost weight his face is gaunt

Yes but without Donnas two world class saves when one on one the game would have been over. Both defenders looked poor in the second half once Barry started knocking them about - oh how I wish Erling would dominate the likes of Keane and Tar--I love myself- the same.
Do you watch us, he's not allowexd to.

Where was the foul for that free kick of theirs, possibly resulted in a goal can't remember now, but a fuck all challenge.

The only thing Id question the officials on tonight is the challenge on Doku......I personally thought it was a dangerous tackle and deserving of red but none of that excuses the performance

Lack of experience and quality....Cherki way off it, Nunes and Nico at left back were suspect again. Donarumma some great saves BUT the defenders dont want to pass back to him at times.

Exactly.

We go 1 nil up, and just do fuck all after that

It's not over yet, Arsenal haven't been impressive for weeks until the last match but that's one match and one they were expected to win anyway. Obviously they're favourites but then they always have been.

The thing I can't understand is everyone knows we started the season rebuilding, not the finished article so we have no right to have achieved what we have so far this season really, yet it's the usual meltdown from the melts.

Worth noting that most teams tend to try to raise their game against us too.

Very true but its disappointing to get ourselves into this position and shoot ourselves in the foot which we did tonight. If we add the fa cup to the league cup it would have been a decent season during a rebuild.

He didnt put his flag up he delayed it

I never played with blade boots they weren’t around back then, just put boots with studs on and stop slipping and sliding about.

Not from what Ive seen this last couple of seasons.

The flag usually goes up late in most circumstances in most games.

Maybe its situations like this is the reason that the flag doesnt go up early as arguably if the player aint got the ball he aint involved in play???

Guehi fuced up big time.....and the rest of the team bar Doku was poor
I only ever see it go up late when a player has a goalscoring opportunity. Ive aeen it countless times go up immediately
Not that it matters because sky have just put up the rules to clearly support the decision.
