Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We've blown it and haven't deserved the title all year, I'm sorry.

In all honesty we haven't seen a title winning team in a while.

The complete rebuild isn't done.

I think Rodri being back covered up a lot of cracks but him being out exposes them again which is good in a way -- for a sustained title winning side.. you can't depend on 1 player to cover your cracks.

We have to get the ins and outs correct!

The extremely slow tempo we played in the 2nd half cost us points. I hate it when we play like that, the players lack concentration as if their brains switch off and then mistakes creep in.

When we got desperate at the end we played with higher tempo and got rewarded with 2 late goals. More of this high tempo please Pep for rest of season.

I'm sure I feel like City fans the world over.
Fucking gutted at this result. We've blown it, against a shit team we should blow away on paper. Pep said we have to win every game till the end of the season. Yet some players didn't look up for it.
Well played Doku.

Totally pissed off.

Trying to get myself in a better mood this morning after last night . If we had put away our chances in the first half different story and had a stronger referee. But we can’t blame the ref for the defensive errors we gifted Everton .

We got out muscled out and kicked all sanctioned by the officials.

Brilliant performance by Doku.

Cherki, Guehi, Gonzales especially had a poor day couple of great saves by Gigi but didn’t have his best game but who did apart from Doku.

Have thought for a long time that Guehi, Semenio and Nunes are not the required level to play for City.

Probably blown it now, but you never know, that point could be vital yet. Strange performance, only Doku O'Reilly and Haaland with any credit. Others like Bernie, Donna and Khus were great in parts but had brainfarts in others. Nico , Nunes, Semenyo and Guehi and Cherki had shockers.

The best team always wins the league; nobody can argue with the team with the most points or wins on better goal difference, because you're the winner.

City has not been good enough over the 34 games so far; we have lost so many silly points to teams we should be spanking. I don't know why, but this season we have been so good in the cups and played some fantastic games, also with a so-called 2nd team mainly playing in both cups, when we rest the first team players we seem to struggle in the next league games.

Anyway, it hurts to lose a game of football (feels like a loss) because we lost the title tonight. Forget West Ham or anybody else beating or getting points from Arsenal. from here it's done and dusted
Yeah and we seem to be the only club who can’t have a transition rebuild given time? We have a lot of new players who don’t know how to win and settled fully in pep system! Remember Pep in something like this., we have 60% new player we will see if how the team does last few games because it’s all new to them! Last night it showed the team is not there..

As others have said, the pace/tempo was way too slow, we looked disjointed, brain farts didn't help, for a man who's 6ft5 Donna is wank in the air if he showed as much aggression going for the ball as he does chasing the referee we'd be ok.
I never thought we'd win the league this season, so it's been nice to take it to the last few games, think we'll piss it next season.
Everton have got a nice new stadium, their fans were quite until they scored, but that's a grueling trek back to lime street.

Think a game like last night we had to drop back in defence as a team to calm it down because Everton kept running onto our last 2/3 players at the back! Pep can coach the new players more now in training pointing out what to not do in that scenario

Oh noticed this morning the media showing playing Moyse moaning at the decisions his team got! Narrative by managers after games can be set! Pep refuse to call it out call referee out moan about referees, when in fact doing it improves those small margins I believe!

Doku was lucky he could walk off them dirty cunts kicked him all night
As for game was obviously gutted but in back of my mind I just still had a feeling we weren’t winning it this year but even if that’s true and we win another cup it’s still a brilliant season

We did everything that you shouldn't do against Everton and allowed their fans to create a sense of injustice rather than turning on their own players which would have happened if we'd gone for the jugular rather than farting around and letting them back into the game.
Suddenly they were playing long diagonal balls behind our full backs and should have equalised from the Nunes error.

Great goals from Doku, but he should be encouraged to shoot more rather than this constant recycling.
The 2nd half was reminiscent of other games throughout the season, but I thought we'd got rid of that pattern tbh. Alas no. We should have cranked it up to get that 2nd goal early on after the break but were lacking concentration. Big opportunity missed.

What were people’s thoughts on the new stadium
The stadium once in your seat is very impressive. Not sure why they didn’t make the top tier behind the net where away fans are match the other side to make it bigger.
Toilets are tiny. Bars are shit.
And location isn't good - in the middle of nowhere.

How so many players managed to drop a 3/10 at the same time is mind boggling. Add in the lack of tempo and it was a a bad night at the office. Doku was incredible. I don't think it's over yet, but we have to absolutely rinse Brentford on Saturday to create any sort of chase.
Come on you Old Sky Blues!
