Local Elections | Thu 7 May 26

Disappointing stuff in both Oldham and Tameside. Best I can come up with that the wards in each area that I used to live in have both returned/held Labour councillors, although the Oldham party are a shower of shit.

No elections where I live in Fleetwood but I suspect we'd have gone Reform from what's happening around the country.
 
Lots of the councils seem to have only about 1/3 of the seats available to vote, which means lots of them have ended up with no overall majority. This might make things worse and lead to even less decisions being made.

It’s interesting to see how poorly labour are doing in the north, particularly working class areas like parts of Tameside.

I ignore these local elections! just because elections are in 3 years and it be back to the two main groups as always! Things change so so quickly in politics!

Other than it would be nice to keep a PM for longer than two fucking years - remember those days? Was quite normal until we voted to fuck ourselves with the B word. Anyway I digress. Whether Labour ditches Starmer now or later is kind of moot as it will happen at some point as it will with Badenoch. Personally, I would give him another year as he is a lightening rod for everyone’s hostility and that insulates Labour. The same happened in Canada last year, where Trudeau was extremely unpopular and the Liberals were trailing by 20 points in the polls. Trudeau out, Carney in and three months later the Liberals won the election.

PS: Carney is also a technocrat, but with some political nous.

Yes well done Stockport. Greens gained a seat from Labour in Reddish North too. However the far right gained two wards and one of those only by 74 votes
 
We have a local councillor who changes parties more than I change my underwear, first Tory, then independent and now he’s been voted in as Reform, fucking bellend.
