42 | Antoine Semenyo - 2025/26

He was great today. His touch is bizarrely inconsistent though. Sometimes he looks Mahrez-esque, sometimes his first touch when he's coming back to goal is more like Jamie Pollock. I think with time he will build a bit more consistency.

When he has space to run into, his speed and physicality can let him kick and run the ball into that space.

Honestly, it was pretty stupid of Brentford to leave such a gap behind their LB, but they clearly didnt fear him.

Luckily he made use of it somewhat and got his cross for the 2nd goal.

Personally... I still dont like it.

I think when Marmoush paired Haaland showed a better dynamic.

Get Cherki dribbling wide and give him a striker (Semenyo or Marmoush) to make runs for him.

Was so much better in the second half after he was obviously told to simplify things and attack his full back. Created a goal as a result and created a few other chances as well.

We’ve been playing him almost like an out and out winger and I feel it doesn’t suit him at all. He was coming in centrally much more when we first got him and that was when he was getting all the goals.

Semenyo and Mahrez-esque?
Which games were those?

Thought he played well yesterday, fullback never knew which way he was going.

His touch is fine. Reminds me of how kids are taught these days to direct the first touch where they want to go, rather than to kill it dead. Doku is better off killing it, because then the defender is static and his acceleration is always better than theirs. Semenyo hasn't got that, so tries to push it and move.

There was a goal for us not long after he joined us where he did this and everyone said it was a great touch.

He has done well for a new player in a new team like ours.
He has definite strengths in work rate, pace and physicality.
He seems a well liked member of the squad.
His first touch is inconsistent and can be improved - he gives the ball away with it sometimes.
A good start with things to improve, and it seems like he's up for the challenge.
