11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

We'd seen the flashes of him for the past two years but seeing him put it all together now you can see a player who could quickly become world class, would not be shocked if takes Belgium a lot further in the WC than people expect.

Realising his potential.

Its up to him to stay consistent and it'll be a shame if he doesn't because he has all the talent to be one of the best.

Doku will have a great season. And I will remind people of that prediction in 5-6 months.

Written back in August...

Doku is another Plodri: one whose potential has been severely underrated.

He deserves a better contract. Our club bosses are really good at assembling a great squad, but not sure why we leave it a bit late with some of the best players at the club: Rodri (paid less than younger and inferior players), Gvardiol (potentially a top 3 CB in the world) and Doku (not quite late with him, but gets a fraction of what some squad players earn, e.g., Marmoush).

He was getting a lot of criticism yesterday for playing the ball to the penalty spot and not flashing it through the six yard box.
Unfortunately, that’s the consequence of playing with players that don’t understand the concept of space like Reijnders. As soon as Foden came on, those supposedly aimless cut backs turned into shots on target. We just need to get Foden and Doku in the same team again.

Do find it rather amusing when the right-back positions himself to show Doku down the line and close off the route inside. Defender clearly thinks that from a standing start he has the necessary pace required; Doku then obligingly motors by him to the line in three steps.

Ultimately, when the opponent is having to send over 4 defenders to nullify your effect, it’s quite an honour.

Still has frustrating moments but is definitely making progress and trying to develop that killer instinct. New contract needed and deserved

Exactly - Reijnders should have been on the penalty spot more often. If Doku is repeatedly able to make that pass, players need to expect that, rather than hope he can thread a miracle ball.

Imagine being a full back and playing against him for 90 minutes! Kayode is a good defender, but he got absolutely ripped to shreds.

On current form, Doku can play against whole defences, not just the FB.

Haven't seen such a player at City. Sane was an elegant dribbler and had magical moments (that assist vs Newcastle) but couldn't sustain it for 90 minutes.

Keep dribbling. No pause nonsense that kills our counters.
You don’t understand him if you think he’s going to be doing long sprints up the pitch.

He hasn’t got that in him, he isn’t a distance sprinter, hence all his muscle injuries earlier in his career. His hold up play and through balls are ace as well, puts it through to better sprinters in space when we do counter.

We’ve all heard when a sportsman is in the “zone” right now Doku is definitely in that zone, that goal at Everton with his left foot confirmed that to me, long may it continue, because iv always backed him, even against constant criticism on here.

The pause nonsense is literally how he dribbles past players. He doesn't have outright pace to just burn past players he has unbelievable acceleration and power to do it, pausing on the ball is how he utilises that.
I am talking about people who say that Doku has to learn the la Pausa ability . I rather see him go against his defender all the time than passing it back for the sake of it

Sensational at the moment but not an overnight sensation: this is the product of hard work and personal development on his part.

Yet another example of how you often need to be patient with players.
