That offside goal v everton wouldnt have been given if we were not leading at the time.

The offside player would not have got to the backpass if he had been onside as he would have been too far back so he did gain an advantage.

It was one of those once a season goals we seem to fall prey to, like the rashford offside.

The way I see it is that they try to find ways to allow goals v us, and try to find ways to disallow goals that we score.

Puts you up against it through the season.

Hopefully once they have their new name on the trophy they can reset for next year and ref equally.

I wouldnt count on it though, as the rags ascendency needs to be assisted.........for the pl product you see.
"The offside player would not have got to the backpass if he had been onside as he would have been too far back so he did gain an advantage"

This is the main point for me, fucking ridiculous.

The other thing was that must have been replayed by Var, then by the ref, about 30 times before a decision was reached. How much proof do you need that they were looking for a reason to disallow it?
mmmm , JFK was never getting out of Dallas alive?

Absolutely he was. Carragher has just said on Sky that there "must have been about 10 fouls in there", clearly the first one wasn't the one on Raya.
It goes back to a recent convo on the VAR thread. They just react to an incident rather than the whole incident. So they miss context. Unimpeded the wet spam
Players powers and and slams home the header

Raya was being held by two West Ham players. Players rugby tackling in the box don’t get given as penalties, see Bernardo on Monday.

A keeper being held twice as he’s about to catch the ball is a foul.
Irrelevant. The ref should give the FIRST foul, Rice was holding and pushing their player long before the ball got anywhere near Raya.

The "check the screen" option is ridiculous. The VAR is basically saying they think the on field decision is incorrect but they don't have the balls to overturn it. If the on field ref goes to the screen and doesn't change his mind he's going to get a bollocking from PGMOL and potentially have his career impacted. The system is broken.

So they get away with what they've been doing all season.wankers
All season? Arsenal started this long long time now. Officials had accepted it as legal, in the process more teams followed, not as effectively as Arsenal though. They, Arsenal, are the ones who possess the expertise. Basically they have invented this "strategy", among similar others, of course. Anything that will suit Arteta's vanity...

Since it's gone too far, now officials seem to be having second thoughts about it. I remember the Bornmouth equalizer, earlier this season. I grew up knowing this shit does not exist in football. Nevertheless it stood. So what do they do? They start cancelling goals. It happened in one of our games recently (remember which one?), with Pep ironically commenting afterwards: "Today I broke another record"...

The approach remains highly selective though, as we have just witnessed tonight. The player who is supposed to be fouling the GK, look at what he's dealing with, as he's trying to position himself towards the ball. Look at other WH players running in the box, what they're also dealing with. From all this chaos, England decided to isolate THAT moment, and make his interpretation of it...

VAR was introduced to guarantee justice supposedly. Refs could not handle the pace of the game anymore, their mistakes were inevitable. But officials do not want justice. It's not about fucking justice, justice is not the objective, never was. So VAR becomes another tool to manipulate results at will...

You see what you want to. Raya was looking for a foul, he got one. Arsenal foul players in every set play but get away with it.

It's a terrible terrible way for this season's title to be decided. We still have a chance, but that felt like the most likely one given who Arsenal play now.

It is also shocking for West Ham if they're relegated as a result of it.

If you need to watch it that often you can't rule it out. Remember the saying "you don't notice a good referee". It's damning that VAR is making so many headlines. At least, if they do go down, West Ham won't have VAR next season.

Yes the media can hear the VAR deliberation it’s allowed VAR aren’t allowed contact with the outside world

  • Only authorised persons are allowed to enter the VOR or communicate with the VAR/AVAR/RO during the match

I don't believe they haven't got a telly tuned into the game so they can hear their God ratboy talking crap ! They might not have official conversation but I reckon they can unofficially hear ratboys utterings .

I know we all despise the way they play, but the goons played with intensity and they found the energy from somewhere to go right to the end. Got a little bit of luck too. Sign of champions.
