Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

I'm with you. I've watched him a lot to see what the fuss is about and I'm not sure at all.about him, I certainly wouldn't be paying anywhere near what is being banded around. He just looks like decent player to me, nothing more. I'm prepared to be proven wrong hopefully.
You don't know football then, he will be fantastic in our team.

He’s not a 6, so hopefully we’ll never find out.
Still not significantly better than Nico and that is what we really need.
Massive upgrade
I disagree. He is not any better and is going to cost us big money in the process. Still not given up on Nico O'Reilly stepping up in midfield although that is still work in progress on that.

Really ? Fucking hell !

Not joking. I just don't have a bias towards Anderson that is all. Wasn't exactly brilliant vs Villa. A midfield of Rice and Anderson isn't going to bring England to World Cup glory either.

Well, you'll very likely be proven right on your last sentence, but I'd say those two in midfield is one area that is of less concern for England than other positions.

Give the lad a break he played a full u21 tournament prior to the season starting. He has played 55 games this season and I think we may have gone down without him. He is playing as from memory as he looks dead on his feet. I think he is entitled to have had the odd crap game.

Also know that he obviously missed one game due to the death of his mum, but she hasn't come back, he's not suddenly over it.

Suspect that the funeral would likely be around now. It's a difficult time for him.

Edit - just seen that the funeral was on Friday, so the day after the game v Villa.

Fair comment. Seen Haaland have some absolute shockers and look knackered too, but I would not swap him for anyone in the world. Don't think it's hard to see that Anderson would be exceptional and a good fit in our side. Will be crying out for his profile after the departures - we do now tbh.

He’s also had personal issues recently & coupled with Forest not having anything to play for I struggle to see him putting in the shifts of his life.

His attitude will be he will always try his best. I don't want him to play next week as I wouldn't put it past any man u player trying to leave one on him. Would start him against Bournemouth and take him off just prior to half time to give him a special send off as we have come to terms with him leaving us i don't think it would have changed things even if we had won the Europa.

This is like the Haaland transfer. Discussed to death. Will he come to City or not. Other clubs are interested. The transfer fee is too much. Etc. Etc. When all along it is nailed on and it will happen.

Based on his performance yesterday he's exactly what we need. He's got great intensity and physicality, his quality on the ball is exceptional as is his vision. He's got that drive and appetite to make things happen and reads the game incredibly well.

The only concern is how much football he's played. He spent last summer with the U21s, will start for England in the WC and he most certainly gets in our best 11 next season.
