Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

It wasn’t applied correctly. The on field decision was “goal” so the threshold to overturn it was whether it was a clear and obvious error. As for instance when Taylor failed to send Gabriel off the threshold for VAR to overturn that decision was not met.

There is no way that you can say it was a clear and obvious error to allow the goal.

What PGMOL did was change the rules at the end of a season for VAR intervention in a way that probably decides both the title and the relegation places. In favour or Arsenal and Tottenham. They changed the rules for a VAR intervention from “was there a clear and obvious error “ to “did he get it right”.

Go figure.
Well I do agree with that first part. They haven't been consistent in that matter all season. We know too well after all. I think it was the away leg of the league cup semi up at st james. Too all fucking night to find a supposedly 'clear and obvious' error.

Arsenal are highly likely going to win this league. They deserve to. They've been the best team all season. I think people's hatred of their fanbase is interfering with their judgement. I'll still be happy for Mikel.

The VAR decision was correct. Anyone debating against that is just silly. It being an inconsistent call also doesn't take away from the fact it was the correct call. The discourse needs to be about the inconsistency in refereeing this season, not on whether that was a foul or not. I also don't see how this shows we don't need VAR. The tool is good, the users aren't. This was a good example of it being applied correctly.
Shut the fuck up.
They have been awful.
Holding
Time wasting.
Fake head injuries.
And that yesterday was a fucking joke

Why argue with someone who doesn't even bother to exhibit basic grammar so their post isn't a mindfuck to read?

If you believe there's some grand conspiracy then all the power to you my friend. The point of being inconsistent is that sometimes it's given and some times it's not.
It was given one time in the season and not any other, are you aware of the meaning of inconsistent or does your pedantry only stretch to grammar and not words?

"It was given one time in the season and not any other"

Yes that would render the decision inconsistent.

I will have to add though..that our equaliser v Everton, way past the 7 mins added time! i think that was very dubious tbf..and Bernie's foul @ the corner = second booking and off tbh (ball not in play so maybe no pen) but Nunes was lucky let's have that right - As for Arsenal..yawn, turgid, George Graham's incarnation
Nunes lucky ? It was correct no faul I have watched it numeres times it is no faul simply as so he is not lucky .

Everton should have been down to ten at HT

And here you are on a City forum when your team are two games from the title.
Three actually. You should know!

The fact I get accused of being some secret gooner for just telling the whinging masses to shut the fuck up about another team for once just proves my point.

That ruled-out goal at West Ham has highlighted the reason why Arsenal will win the title ?
It's got nothing to do with winning the title by fair and square; it's the helping hand they have been given all season

City fucked up at Everton, but the truth is City have been fighting the system all season, the match officials are all over us for every little thing they can find to punish us, West Ham got robbed and will go down and VAR made the call against them that the Arsenal players have been getting away with all season

Yes City fucked up at Everton BUT the ref and var made sure City played against 11

agree with most things you have said = but best team = most grinding and efficient - on that basis yes, but in a low quality prem Arsenal have become like George Graham's team... efficient but pretty dull...if that's the best the prem can produce nowadays..then non league football for me..teams actually go for it

City are three games from the title, yes.

Your team is only two.

I think it's a combination of several sides not being in a position to win + an overall strengthening of the league.

We're in a transitional year. Chelsea's higherups have fucked them. Liverpool I think got a bit greedy. Rags haven't had a good manager. Villa have sucked. Newcastle have sucked.

Not hard to see how a very negative style has worked. I don't think it's sustainable and I think all going well we're in for a somewhat cruisy run to the trophy next season.

They've been consistent in that regard, whereas every other team has been consistently inconsistent, ourselves hopelessly so. It has been a poor league this year, technically inferior, overly physical, and poorly officiated. Should they win from here, however, Arsenal and their supporters will understandably care not a jot, but for the sake of football, come May 30, most neutrals will be hoping PSG play them off the park.

How is that equaliser v Everton deemed lucky we're still playing ? Everton made 2 substitutions in injury time

Inconsistency requires a much larger and more varied data set than a one time event. If something happens 35 times and doesnt happen on the 36th time that is an anomaly not an inconsistency. For someone so smug and pedantic your knowledge is very much lacking.

For example you have consistenly and wilfully ignored the point and made stupid assertions on all your posts if on your next post you made a knowledgeable and clever assertion that would be anomaly and it would point to someone else writing your posts for you or you developing a brain, both of which are highly unlikely and require investigation, if you continued to make clever points or at least get the point on your next 5 posts then you would be inconsistent.

I bet that 2001: A Space Odyssey fucking ape hasn’t got family excuses this morning on talk sport.

Regardless of whatever questionable decision has occurred we shouldn't be leaving it for the arsenal or the referees to decide the title; we had it in our hands and we lost it. Plain and simple. We drew and lost against teams we should have won. There is really no excuse for us, in fact I am surprised we even still have a title race.

The season hasn't been a failure though we still have league cup and are in the FA cup final. We are extremely lucky that there is even a hint of a title race despite all our mistakes. We have no excuses given how poor we've been lets not whine about it please and focus on improving next season. Fair play to Arsenal.
I agree with every word except for the last sentence. Fair play and Arsenal don’t deserve to be in the same sentence. They will win the title by lumping the ball into the box and fouling defenders. They will win it by feigning injury and time-wasting. All of which has been ignored by referees. Refs have also ignored Arteta’s antics on the touchline distracting opponents’ throw-ins. During this period one of their Directors has been a prime mover in a smear campaign against our club. There’s a simple word for all this. It’s called cheating.
