Yep. Tacking left may save Keith from his peers but it is putting himself above the interests of the party, which needs to be palatable to the majority of moderate voters. As Ed Miliband and Jeremy Corbyn ably demonstrated multiple times.
Out greening the Greens is a strategy with only one outcome: oblivion at the next GE.

Catherine West has confirmed she will push ahead with her plan to remove Sir Keir Starmer as Labour leader.The backbench MP threatened over the weekend to launch a leadership challenge against the PM, if the cabinet did not choose a new leader yesterday.
Then, she added that she would listen to Starmer's speech and would push for a leadership contest if it wasn't up to scratch.
She has since confirmed she will be pushing ahead with her plan to remove Starmer - though she has made clear she doesn't want to be leader herself.
A leadership bid would require 81 Labour MPs to publicly back her call for one.

I would guess this woman no one had heard of before the weekend will be about 80 MPs shy of what she needs. The other attention grabbing back benchers aren’t that stupid to vote for a change that could topple their own government, Labour like the Tories could be extinct after the next election. Keir Starmer has one super power, he doesn’t scare the horses like Corbyn, when he’s gone Labour really are done. Hence the right wing treason bastards attempt to get rid of him.

Someone posted a few days ago that Starmer "is doing what he thinks is the right thing" (or words to that effect). Well so did Liz Truss and look where that got us, and her.
To think you're doing "the right thing", you have to know what "the right thing" is though. There's a business strategy tool called VMOST, which stands for:
To explain this, your Vision/Mission might involve reducing poverty. Your Objective might be to reduce the number of households in poverty to 10% by 2030. Your strategy might involve raising average incomes of those households deemed to be below the poverty line and your tactics might include targeting benefits or some other income-raising device at this group.
But to get to the Strategy and Tactics levels, you need a vision and mission, which Starmer doesn't appear to possess. His mission was simply to be PM, as I've said before and his strategy and tactics were designed to achieve that. At best he's about tactics, but without the strategy, let alone the vision and mission, that's not enough for a political leader.
It's quite telling that the leader of the Labour party doesn't have a socialist vision. Corbyn was a waffling, vacillating buffoon but at least John McDonnell had a clear vision.

You think there's enough Labour MPs sensible enough to realise this? If there were surely this clamour for more left wing policies would not be so loud, nor Starmer's pandering to those voices.
I agree with your central premise though. A party with Corbyn-esque policies is politically toxic to the public at large.

Her plan wasn’t to become the next PM but rather let the NEC know she was challenging. This would force out the real runners and riders, Streeting, Rayner etc.
The problem is the one everyone in the PLP can seemingly get behind can’t even make the ballot paper.
First she is going to fire the starting gun then someone got in her ear about it being too soon and an hour later she did a u turn. It is clear the PLP want Starmer gone because they do not believe he is the right person to lead, yet now want to fuck around playing silly buggers leaving him in charge until they can find the promised one a seat. As the expression goes, shit or get off the potty.
So now we wait for the new ultimatum of September, then a couple of months of voting a new leader in, so end of this year. All the while this pantomime plays out folk are loosing their jobs and struggling to make ends meet.
What a fucking shambles these adults in charge are.
