9 | Khadija Shaw

I suspect the sticking point is the length of contract on the table - it's a tough one because if they let her walk there is no doubt she will score goals wherever she ends up especially in the first couple of years. Looking at her today is a slightly different Bunny - she was largely anonymous for periods but ended up winning us the game with great finishes. A similar pattern this year.

Bunny of recent seasons would dominate defenders when running at them but we are seeing less of that recently. Is that the start of a decline or is it all to do with her state of mind? I don't know. Either way as fans we have to trust Therese and Charlotte on this one because from where we were - being a perennial stumbling at the final hurdle team to now never giving up and being so together is pretty special. I still recall when we had a lot of older players 2 years ago we were losing crucial games late on and we would stick with not getting the ball forward, passing back from everywhere on the pitch and end up missing out on titles because we didn't have energy and extra gears - we've changed that mindset completely and whereas Bunny has been key to that a top team evolves constantly with each new player coming in.

In other words I would be very happy if she stays but also if she does moves on I trust the club to use that money and squad space effectively.
Spot on this.

If she stays, great.
If she goes, thanks for the memories but we move on. There's not many like her so a like for like replacement would be hard to find.

She's a big girl and I've always thought if they could get maybe a stone off her in close season she would be quicker and more agile and she would be less prone to lower limb injuries. Likely you'd lose a bit of power but be better for us and her in the long run.

I don't understand this obsession in the media with insinuating City won't pay the going rate and that would be why she would be off. She's run her contract down so was able to talk to other parties since Jan. She's either done that to give herself maximum leverage with City or she wants away. Either way we couldn't stop her doing what she wants!

Personally I think she's gone. I will be disappointed if its Chelsea. I fucking despise them.

Should we not be thinking of sustainability ? We can't pay more wages if we are making losses surely?

If she does go to Chelsea, I'd be tempted to stick a bid in for Beever-Jones.

I can't imagine she'd be thrilled with the idea that she'll be second fiddle to Bunny.

She’s out of contract this summer so could be free. Though, Chelsea have a club option of extending until 2027

I'd be more tempted to go after Kerr if Chelsea don't want her - shed score bagfuls for us. After a really bad ACL recovery she's showing signs in the last few weeks of returning to the player she was. She's had some unfortunate media coverage for gobbing off when she was a bit pissed but proven not to have done anything worthy of the original accusations (we above all other fanbases know what its like to be tarred with an undeserving brush). That aside shes a great goalscorer. Her and VIv up front would be pretty dynamic. Could be tempted if Chelsea are shoving her out of the door for Bunny.

Hmmm Bunny's interview has made me think she's staying now (what a rollercoaster haha). "Manchester is my home...I want to stay...." makes me think she'll just get the best deal she can from City

She wouldn't be thrilled but would have to accept it....Is Beever-Jones an adequate replacement for Shaw, were she to leave? I haven't seen enough of her. I mean, Beever-Jones is not as good, I think we can start there.

She's a different kind of player but at her best she's v clinical. Gets fewer shots away than Bunny but a better conversion rate. Also scores more from outside of the box.

Hard to judge her properly as she really tailed off second half of the season but mainly due to injury. If she's fit though i imagine she'd get plenty in this team given how many chances we create.

Interestingly if you look at the stats, Chelsea's xg conversion rate was best in the league this season. Their issue isnt putting chances away, its the lack of chances they create. Would sinking that much money into one player be the best use of their cash? They certainly need a centre forward with Kerr and probably Ramirez leaving, but they also need wingers and to address the fact they conceded a lot of goalscoring opportunities this season.
