She ran as an independent backed by The Muslim Vote, which was a campaign pushing ummah politics, bloc voting on Gaza and pressuring seats with high Muslim populations.

Yes, it wasn’t calling for all out Sharia law, but it doesn't need to be to be classed as islamism. Its religious-aligned politics to advance group interests over integration.

Her near-miss in Ilford North and results elsewhere shows the strategy is working. If Wes runs in that seat in 2029 he is done.

Unless someone goes for a leadership challenge now then I suspect he is going to go for a major reshuffle. Boot out the plotters from cabinet. Stamp his authority on government and see how it lands. If he keeps Burnham out of the PLP there is no vaguely unified challenger.

What has been most telling is the silence from most of the cabinet. I haven’t heard Reeves out backing him for example.

Labour generally needs to have an honest conversation about what it wants to stand for and this conversation should have happened before they got in power. We are seeing the consequences of that not happening and that lays solely at Starmer’s door.

My granddaughter is a Labour activist and holds a regional post in the party. She sent me photos of herself with Starmer and then with Reeves. I (lightheartedly) told her she’d end up hiding those photos as I thought they’d be a disaster - but genuinely hoped otherwise. I said it was the least talented leadership group (Starmer, Rayner, Cooper, Reeves, Lammy, Miliband) that I could remember - and I go back to Harold Wilson in mid1960s. There are some capable and talented Labour politicians in less senior roles, but the “top team” is awful.
 
The bottom line is that they all know from previous leadership challenges across all parties the one who breaks cover first invariably loses the contest
 
Increasing benefits from April for households with more than 2 wives! Is there anything else they can do to p..s us off. Lawyer PM and this is happening.

We may not be politically aligned but I’ve got a huge soft spot for Karl Turner. You only get the unvarnished truth with him. I wish there were a lot more like him.

This is where the Labour Party has lost. Unfortunately the people voting are now voting for a party that is more geared for White, British Nationalism, anti muslim. Nobody will be able to do anything about it.

You see it more and more, chatter in the pubs, gym, football. It's all around get the foreigners or anyone that doesn't look white and British out.

Me as a British born Indian has seen the shift over the last 5/6 years. Snide comments, dirty looks etc.

Reform refuse to criticise their councillors who have openly been racist on social media, Rupert Lowe does the same. Tommy Robinson has got the young 20 - 50 year olds (lads culture) all backing him. Some of these probably didn't vote previously.

I suffered racism in the 70's and 80's. It went quiet after that. These were lads at school on the streets. I don't think they ever changed their views, just got in with life. Now they have awoken and have someone they can vote for to get their cuntry back.

Labour are on a hiding to nothing. We will see Farage win the next GE. Lets see how much change we see. My view is fuck all.

As reported on GBN and in the Express. Can’t be arsed reading the detail but if it’s only made those two news outlets it’s more than likely a nothingburger.

Sorry to read that. I posted a while back my daughter is getting snide comments at work because they think she is Jewish (she isn’t our surname is probably of Jewish origin).

The rise in bigotry and misogyny in this country is a fucking disgrace and I like to think the majority of the country still think this way. I suspect you are right that these attitudes have been dormant rather than eradicated but social media has a major part to play in it all.

I stumbled across “multiple wives” additional benefits while scrolling through Gov.UK - couldn’t believe it tbh.

Have you got more than 1 wife? I wouldn’t think so, and bigamy is against the law in this country, well it is as far as I know. Doing this is actually dividing people deliberately imo. Ludicrous decision.
